We went to Icmeler last year (after always going to Spain & Spanish islands) ..........We absolutely loved everything about the place and hope to return soon ...... yes I admit it - I've missed not being able to see the photos of the new prom, sunshine etc - so I've joined up & maybe I'll get even more addicted to Icmeler :D

Hello,
It was never my intention to stir up a potential hornets nest about the email sent out it is just that I personally like to be the type of member who only posts when either have something to say or have a question to ask. I enjoy reading other members comments about the goings on in Icmeler and am returning there on the 8th of May for the fourth time for a holiday and it is nice to know what has been going on between my visits, I just felt that the use it or lose it attitude is not a good one and I dont feel that I have to submit a post on a regular basis on a topic that has no relevance to me just to remain active. I am looking forward to my return and hopefully remaining a member of the forum for the forseeable future.See you in the sizzler for a beer or two in early May, I hope.

Totally agree with the above post. I don't see the need to post regularly as most of the topics have already been answered in full or are a repeat of topics already posted. Perhaps admin could have a look at that. I have a look at the site nearly every day and the topics are same old same old that have been posted a million times before.

Re: KEEPING ON I.C.R

I'm pretty sure admin do keep a pretty tight rein on the site and merge any topics or close ones which are simply a duplication of others. However, for those who are perhaps not checking the site every single day, it's easy for topics to fall off the first page and maybe get overlooked. No-one's saying people have to come on and post all the time if they don't want to - you can always vote with your feet and go elsewhere if you don't like the way the site is run - but in general, this is a very well-run and friendly forum which provides an absolute wealth of information about Icmeler. I think the initial e-mail was obviously aimed at all the newcomers who simply registered as members in order to take advantage of the exclusive offers - to encourage them to take a more active role and perhaps post from time to time and join in a bit more.

The problem I see is that people are just putting posts stating "post to remain on the site". This will lead to a lot of threads or posts which mean nothing to anybody - unless they are deleted straight away. More work for the mods :D

Yes, johnG - I agree that that kind of post is a bit pointless. Sad if that's the only reason people are coming on here - to make that kind of post just to qualify for the offers. It'd be nice to think they'd stick around and make a positive contribution to the site instead. :)

I don't see the problem. If any of the subjects are "same old same old" don't click on them, you don't have to read them, just click on the subjects that interest you. For members that haven't come across these topics before then they are informative. I suppose if you feel you've read them a million times before you just need to be more selective in what you read and not read everything. I read topics that have been discussed many times before as when different members contribute it sometimes gives a different slant to the topic.

I think that admin are doing a marvellous job but I think that it's going to take much longer with so many new members especially with regular posting but I still think it's a good idea. :)

Re: KEEPING ON I.C.R

Annemc I actually don't see why you are commenting as it CLEARLY doesn't apply to you as you already have 72 posts so are clearly not a new member.

Also I don't think it's too much to ask to people to say thank you to the members who go out of there way to find information and pictures for us.

If topics are same old same old, then the simple answer is post new topics, don't expect others to do it for you so you can simply log in and read them.

Hi Colette

could you not add the rules to the T&C,s before any new member commits to signing up to the forum
this way people would have the choice of staying as a guest to view the topics or join to take an active part
rather than joining then having their account removed for not posting

Just a thought

Steve

Hi Peevo please don't feel intimadated I am sure thats not the intentions of ICR.This really really is the friendliest of forums, anyhow you have made your first post so you won't be"expelled" :D I really don't post that often either and it is sometimes great just to sit and read what people have to say but if you feel you want to just go ahead and post.A big welcome to the forum.

Re: KEEPING ON I.C.R

17 Apr 2011 10:44

Oh no, Peevo - there's really no need to feel that way. This is honestly a very welcoming and friendly forum and if you do have any questions, there's always someone around sooner or later who will come up with an answer for you. Hope you will stick around and enjoy the forum for a long time to come.

Re: KEEPING ON I.C.R

we have nothing to say

Not even a thank you for the piccies that have been posted ? :D

Re: KEEPING ON I.C.R

Welcome to new members before I forget.

Steve the rules are set by PHP when you join as we just borrow there software, but I have added it to the forum rules.

Peevo and anyone else feeling the same, there is no need to panic, were not after you all to suddenly start yapping  It would take me all day to mod the forum then, and having nothing to say is fine, just the odd thanks now and again for people who take time to post info and piccs would be lovely. Just to show our appreciation to them :D Then you never know one day you might have something to ask or think I know the answer to that question etc

In hindsight it probably was worded incorrectly and for that I apologise, we are a friendly forum and get loads of good advice on here. Plus more members means I can go all out for this winter and get you a chat bit for word games and stuff :D and I can send more ideas to John and Rami for things for you guys.

See not all bad am I

Please excuse any typo's, my laptop must have a 3 course meal under the keyboard by now
