I do think it's wrong yes as some airports are giving the newer stickers and some are still giving the old so if this was a new law surely everyone would be issueing the new ones?? And all the embassys have said they don't know of any changes and the consulate in marmaris has admittted it's a misprint. Aswel as the fact its not on any consulate websites then I believe it's a mistake on the sticker! Those rules do apply to some countries but they have been printed with the £10 on them for british nationals which is a misprint

yes thats true £10 has been printed on it but another thing has baffeled me is why would they change the wording from the old 1s as you already may know the old 1 says multiple entry visa valid for 90 days duration begins on the date of entry to turkey holder has no right to work but this new 1 says multiple entry visa valid for an intended stay of no more than 90 days per period 180 days. duration begins on the date of entry to turkey holder has no right to work why would they add on the new 1 intended stay of no more than 90 days per period its a little confusing.

Those rules do apply to some countries, if you go onto the british consulate website it gives you a list of visa requirements for all the different countries and about 10 other countries have the 90 in 180 day rules. So i guess it's just their sticker that's accidently been printed with the £10 mark. I also know of someone who got the new sticker but someone at the airport stamped over it diagonally with the words "valid for 90 days" which they asumed cancelled out what it said on the sticker, meaning it was wrong!

What kind of border services is this...if I make a misprint of something thats ok, if a company does it, it is somewhat ok, but when a country does it, thats messed up! However, it may not be a misprint...read below pls.

From what I read of it in Turkish, it allows you to stay a total of 90 days in a 180 day period. No such limitation to how many times you can come and go or puchase this type of visa. As many of you pointed out, Turkey cant take that chance when the country depends on tourism...

The way i comprehend it is; the visas used to be for 90 days max with multiple entry however this one gives a further flexibility where it is still for 90 days in total but can be used in a period of 180 days instead of 90. So its actually a better deal as you would not need to purchase a visa if you came back to Turkey with in 180 days of your first entry.

If they ran out of visas and given these instead, thats really sad. I am hoping that there is not a misprint here and it is exactly as my understanding which supports tourism further.
If I am wrong, regardless of what ever happened there, the govt would be causing emberassment to all of its citizens. As one of you said, one hand doesnt know what the other hand does...perfectly true and goes beyond just visa issues unfortunately....

The new rules appear to benefit those people who go to Turkey on a number of short visits over the season ie currently upto 90 days in total, as they will no longer have to purchase a new visa at the back end of the season (as long as within 6 months of original visit). That is of course assuming they do not increase the fee following this announcement?

However, the ones I feel for are those who go over in say 2 longish stretches at the beginning and end of the season each year. These folk will not be able to do this again it appears - or cut short both visits so as not to exceed the 90 day total. Its a shame really as these people contribute to the local economies for a significant amount of time currently - so both the people concerned and the local economies appear to be losing out. On a personal note its something I had planned in future years following retirement but I seem to have had that possibility closed now - shame really.

confused.com!!
With this new visa can we stay for 90 days as long as its within 180 days of the date the visa was issued?
So as long as they gave me the right sticker 26th June i wont need to pay another £10 for 180 days from that date as long as i dont spend 90 days in the country? Stayed for 2 weeks and going back in september for a week.
Thanks in advance :)

Very interesting but I think we have missed out ?

We where in Icmeler 17/24 May 2010 and paid the £10 as usual.

We are back again 6/20 September

Reading this thread, because we came in May the new rules dont apply and we will pay another £10 if I am reading it correctly.

Be grateful for any thoughts folks,

Many Thanks, Pete & Maureen.

if you still have the 'old' visa sticker on your passport you will have to pay the £10 on entry again. this wasn't in effect in may

This does not stop anyone from staying in Turkey longer than 90 days. Those who want to stay longer periods have to apply for residency permit which is basically given to anyone who pays up. So just another money grabbing technique....sad!

‎1 year GBP 370,00
2 year GBP 730,00
3 year GBP 1090,00
4 year GBP 1450,00
5 year GBP 1810,00

These are the new prices for the residency visa introduced at the begining of the year.
This is to the holiday makers advantage as now you can travel anytime now within a 180 day period as long as the stay doesnt exceed 90 days either all at once or over several holidays.
All for £10.
Its just the people going over for the season or owning property over there who will be affected the most.

Another news article at

http://www.fethiyetimes.com/news/44-new ... tries.html

What I am worried about is for the those people who have gone out for the season, received the new new style visa and were planning a Rhodes trip for a visa renewal, if they leave it last minute they may not be allowed back in, and if they still have some days left they may need to arrange an early flight quickly so they don't receive an overstay penalty.

Very good point. This should have been announced way in advance! Changing things without a notification of any type...and you want to be a part of EU...good luck with this sort ot mentality..

Anyhow, If enough pressure is put on, Turkish officials will step back however I have hard time thinking where the pressure should be put on. I would say protesting emails should be forwarded to British Embassy because they are the only ones that can clean up this mess using political channels..
