I have e-mailed the jeweller concerned and so far he hasn't bothered to reply. I will give him another few days as I want to be fair and give him the chance to explain where my ring is, but if he doesn't he will be named and shamed. I don't want anyone else to be ripped off like I have been.

Hi. I have just returned from Icmeler, and was telling a jeweller friend out there about your ring. He said that if it was E***** Jewellery, they have been doing this sort of thing all season, and because of this they were shut down last week. So if it was them, you probably won't get a reply, but I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Starchild,
No it wasn't that jeweller, so in that case there are at least two of them at it that we know of! I have just checked my e-mails and still haven't recieved a reply from my jeweller though.

Thanks Fanny, my dad was disappointed when I told him but we decided not to tell my mum as we didn't want to upset her. Their day of celebration turned into three and was lovely, they renewed their vows in church on Sunday(using the imposter ring!) Thankyou for asking.
There was a thread on here somewhere saying you could e-mail someone if you had any complaints about Turkey, I think people were complaining about the prices at Dalaman. I can't find it though so can anyone point me in the right direction? Or does anyone have any idea who I can go to next? I know I won't get it back now but I feel I have to say something to stop it from happening to someone else.
What is worrying is that I have recieved so many pm's and e-mails from other people, and not just from this site, saying that this has happened to them. Many people in my position who have had their jewellery tampered with or changed, and several who have had their diamonds or precious stones stolen and cheap ones put in their place. Please do not hand your own jewellery over unless you are 100% sure your jeweller can be trusted. (I was!)

Progress!! The jeweller has just e-mailed me to appologise for not getting in touch sooner, but he has been trying to track down the man who was given the job of melting my ring. It was sent to Anlar jewellers and the man who was supposed to work on it is now in prison!! He only worked there for a month so I cannot believe that he was given the responsibility of handling people's gold like that! My original jeweller has appologised profusely because he trusted Anlar jewellers and has been let down also. He has offered to make me another ring in 22 carat rose gold if I send the imposter ring back, the only trouble is, how do I tell my mum?! I suppose my faith in my original jewellers has somewhat been restored but I will never trust anyone with my own gold again. Will never use Anlar either, I am wondering now what they did with it, maybe it is in their shop window. If you happen to be walking past and see a beautiful rose gold wedding band in the window it could be mine.

Well done julie

Iam glad to hear you have got some positive outcome from this.

I would like to say one thing on this subject , It sounds to me that you are being palmed off with very shoddy reason. ( It was not me :? ).
.. alo179 are very good at what they do. ( help people ).

I think the Jeweler in question may have had a "phonecall" and a change of heart over the way you was ripped off.

If you are happy with the outcome over this , :D then thats you :D .

I for one , Will watch out in the future

Progress!! julie.. one step at a time :D

Thanks Garry,
I never thought about it like that, I will definately be more careful in future and will not be so trusting. Thanks to you and everyone else for their support. I don't know if I will be able to send the imposter ring back as I haven't said anything to my mum about it and it was blessed by the vicar in church on Sunday when my mum and dad renewed their vows, in any case I don't think I would trust anyone if I sent it back, I would be wondering all the time if I was going to actually get the new one. I have already decided that I need a couple of years away from Icmeler as this experience has put me off, although the actual place still has the magic for me, just not some of the people. :(

One thing that puzzles me is why would a jeweller who has his own goldsmiths on the premises and makes his own rings and also repairs, send a piece of jewellery away to another jeweler to be adjusted.

The same jeweler actually made a piece of jewellery for me to match a bracelet for my daughters 18th some years ago.

Very strange indeed

Hi Julie

Can I ask if you got a response from alo179, after sending your email, ( not a confirmed email received, but an actual response.)

Have they ( alo179 ) contacted you, to say they have been in touch with the the jeweler in question.

Just my curiosity getting the better of me.

Not really a result - a result would be if you didn't have to hand the fake one back and the jeweller made you a new one free of charge. You would have thought this would have been offered straight away without the hassle factor.

I've never understood why people buy expensive jewellery on holiday when there is no guarantee, except the word of someone you'll be unlikely to meet again. Even if you took it back next year - its a year later and people have very short memories.

about 8 years ago someone on here recommended firuze jewellers , so we went and had a look , there was no hard sell and we went away a few days later we went back a warm welcome was given still no pressure to buy, on our second week we went back and bought some jewellery on our return home had it valued and it was almost double we have
done this every year since and still no hard sell, one year funds were low we went to say hello said we wasnt buying but
was given a warm welcome i think you should go on instincs and recommendation we believe we have made friends with them i would like to think so , also some friends we have made when weve asked " is there anything you:d like us to bring you " have been told "no thank you " but very kind of you to ask that makes me think that they are not all out for what they can get.( julie name and shame ) and other members give your recommendations i for one am glad we were recommended

Well done for sticking at it Julie.
I agree with admin, why send the ring elsewhere when he is supposed to have all facilities on site.
I personally wouldn't send the ring back, what proof would you have if he says he hadn't recieved it.
Even if you sent it international signed for, I think it would be too risky.
If you know someone who is going early next year, maybe they could call in and see what he had to say in person.

For the last 5 years I have used Ebru gold and cant praise them enough. I never have any hassle when browsing and I always get a very good price. This year I saw a ring and said I would have to wait to see how funds were at the end of my holiday before I could say yes or no, his response was that was fine and just to pop in when I decided. We saw the jeweller in Ebru just about everyday and still no hassle even on the last night when we popped in to say goodbye not once did he ask if I wanted the ring. Very good service and in my eyes a trustworthy jeweller.
I think naming and shaming is a very good idea to stop anyone else from being ripped off and recommendations on where to shop to give people some idea where its safe to buy jewellery in Icmeler.
