Word of Warning about boat trips

Postby babs » 29 May 2006 16:44

A couple of years ago we went to Kusadasi(?) and went on a wonderful boat trip until the better half decided to go swimming. He jumped in amongst loads of other swimmers while I watched (like to keep my feet on firm ground). All of a sudden he was panicking - he had lost his dad's ring simply by starting to do the breast stroke, it just slipped off his finger probably because the water was quite cold.

When we finally got him back on the boat the lad running the boat trip said that this was something quite common and in future we should take the lead of the other turkish lads on the boat and thread rings onto a necklace or leave them with a mate back on board.

Apparently in that area, the local lads went diving after the tourist boats had left to find the jewellery that had been lost by swimmers.

We went on a good one, plenty of drink and sunshine.

That was the end of August, there were about 60 in total, upstairs was packed, but downstairs was quiet. The food was a bit dodgy though.
