I think a few of the "Chatsworth" brigade have already descended on Icmeler though.

We stayed in the Efes Inn which has always been frequented by let s say the more sensible kind of folk, however this year there was a family who must have been given a holiday grant from the social security or something, because during the two weeks, they just caused havoc.

One day the "Parents" were drunk as hell and just left the 3 kids by the pool (kids being that they youngest was about 2, the oldest about 7) and effed off back to the room. Some random woman had to take care of them, and get the hotel staff to get the parent to take them back to the room.

Every night we ate in the hotel, and they were there, they were usually pissed up again, lettingt he kids run riot.

Another night, "Dad" had attacked mother, and was taken away by the filth.

There were countless other things that happened, but it just spoiled the whole atmosphere of the hotel when they were around.

But back on thread, I would not stay away from Icmeler just because of the price, but if this kind of people start to come in thier droves, I think it would lose its appeal.

We had some like that In Grand Aquarium last year, there was a commin familly there. We came back from a night out and thought we'd have one last drink in the bar wish we hadn't bothered. Hotel security were breaking a fight up between the woman and the man, luckilly they were only there for a few days of our stay.

But thats about the only trouble I have seen so far, lets hope it stays that way.

Hi All
Long one this :)
Trouble is the chatsworth brigade is not a new concept and will always be with us, indeed I cast my mind back about 6/7 years ago, and have to say thankfully its the only time Ive seen our "benifit system" on full flow. It was on the Kapisi beach when the ,old school used to work there, Gencis, Leon{noels], etc.
It was getting about 5 o-clock and the lads were cashing up on the beach when Gencis came and sat on our sunbed asking why! do people do this ??.
There had been a tribe over from Marmaris for the day, 15 or 16 in all of varying ages from the old gran to a little one in a pram the middle ones in between being foulmouthed slappers and pissheads. We had seen them earlier as they had been on our plane coming out and had reaped havoc on there, letting their off-spring scream and run about, whilst they knocked back their duty-free.
These scroats had slowely dissappeared in dribs and drabs off the beach without paying a penny for a full days drinking and food served to them ! You can imagine how much that bill would be,9/10 pissheads plus their little feral animals, filling their faces all day. The thing here that hit home was that the bar lads could not understand Why! some one can do this, and the fact that they would not have any wages that day was, too a point, secondary.
So its always been with us lets hope that it doesnt increase, and this tribe got their come-upence some where down the line, but I doubt it with the system we have in place in the UK to look after this - "Vulnarable Species"-

That's very sad indeed, but I really do hope those sorts are still in the minority as far as Icmeler is concerned. I hope it doesn't leave the locals with the impression that we're all like that - certainly most people I know wouldn't dream of acting in that manner, either at home or abroad.
Sadly, we had the misfortune to have a tribe like that on our plane flying out to Turkey in October, and all the time I was hoping and praying they wouldn't be coming to Icmeler. The two women were so bad on the plane that the chief air steward threatened to issue them with "abusive passenger reports". Fortunately for us (and for Icmeler!), they were going to Marmaris.
It doesn't even matter what "class" you are or where you come from - all that's required is basic manners and common courtesy. A little respect for your fellow human beings wouldn't go amiss. The welcome, friendliness and hospitality I've experienced in Icmeler is second to none, and I would certainly hope that our Turkish hosts feel we do respect and appreciate that.

Unfortunately you will see this type everywhere you go, you only have to look at the towns in Britain of a weekend, don't understand the mentality of these people, yes we all want to enjoy our holidays but not at the expense of others. I think one of the things about Icmeler is that the people who go there regularly would not put up with this behaviour, someone would tell them where to go, I know I would and have in the past. Let's hope that Icmeler stays as it is, our heaven away from home.
Merry Christmas to everyone on here and our Turkish friends over there.
Roll on May 15th. :D

Next July I've got my holiday to Icmeler booked then when I return I'll have 4 days back in England and then I'll be off to Tenerife.

Both countries I love so there's no better way of having two summer holidays to them two places. Although, when I booked my holiday for Tenerife, the Euro was 1.24 and not 1.04 like it is atm.

Re my previous post about the scroats on the beach, and others of that ilk. one good thing is that the majority of this type burn their bridges by their actions, so can only ever appear the once, and I for one will always remember this tribe and will speak out if I ever see them again.
Big problem is, our system in UK encourages them to breed like the rodents, that they want live like. so others take their place.
As Duffaire says its up to us to make them as unwelcome as possable and indeed to back up any actions that the bar staff have to use, and not just sit back and tut -tut. One pet hate of mine is appathy, I cant stand by and watch some things happen I have to open my gob! [wife calls me Victor Meldrew], on the soap box again

Went to Rhyl in April but it was closed.

I was going to say shut but the buggers let me in.

Cost me a fortune (actually not as it was £2.40 a pint of Fosters so same as home.

Busmans weekend for me but not a place to holiday at like we all in the North used to.

It can happen anywhere

Postby weetoony » 16 Jan 2009 21:18

I have just heard from friends who spent Christmas and New Year on a luxury Caribbean cruise that would have set them back the best part of £20,000 for the two of them and their three kids.

It seems, from what they told me, that neds and yobs can turn up anywhere if the price is right. At least on land you can avoid it.

I've seen the same thing happen in a 5* all inclusive in Cancun.

oh my word weetooney, hope that wasn't the cruise your friends were on :?
liked the bit about the captain turfing a couple of the louts off though

back to Icmeler though, maybe any troublemakers/Shameless could be exiled to jiggy jiggy island for the duration of their hol ?!?!?!

as I said earlier in the thread, even if[when] Icmeler is dearer, the hospitality just doesn't compare to other places
we usually escape to the Canaries for a week of winter sun, but the people are nowhere near as friendly as in Icmeler - save the odd one or two and there's just not as much effort across the board to make sure holidaymakers have a good time - and by that, I don't mean get leathered

Icmeler everytime !!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes it was :!:

In all honesty, unless there is mega mad discounting, I don't see this happening in Icmeler.

where have you guys been!?!?!
jiggy jiggy island is the nickname some of our Icmeler friends call the island opposite the beach - or goat island
just thought it was a good place to send the Shameless Gallagherites - and very handy if they're the sort to rip off the poor beach lads and bars like someone mentioned earlier
