Orphanages

Postby janetbytheloch » 10 Nov 2008 13:54

I was also absolutely horrified at what I saw You just want to take them all out of there and give them a quality of life. Absolutely shocking I just hope that showing it makes more people want to make a difference. Lynda give Niamh a big hug from me and tell her I'm missing her giggles.

When I started this thread I didn't want to stir up a hornet's nest but just felt I had to comment on my reaction to this programme.
I wouldn't think Admin would have anything whatsoever to do with the orphanage in Mugla if it was in any way like the ones televised.

I am not defending Turkey but what came to my mind was a supposedly very civilized island not far from us had a care home that systematically tortured ,abused, and murdered the children in their care home and buried their bodies in the cellar.

Then their police, social services and just about everyone in authority covered it up.......that place is Jersey as I'm sure you all know, so us in the west are not squeaky clean and it doesn't seem that they are any nearer in catching and punishing these perverts.

Sorry to rant and rave but I am totally disgusted with what happened there and would never have aholiday in Jersey.

Sue, Elkie and all of you.

I apologise for my outburst yesterday and looking back I could have gone about it a better way but its just something close to my heart.

Its good that people are asking as there must be loads that wanted to and never did ask so hopefully it will put those peoples minds at rest

John

You are human like the rest of us and topics like this will always produce emotional responses from people
maybe it is time to lock this thread
If people want to help the children in the Mugla orphanage than they are able to donate (and not just money) through the ICR office like so many have done before please see the following link http://www.icmeleronline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4700

I don't think you need to apologise admin because it shows that you care and that you are passionate about your beliefs and I for one, admire that .

I didn't see the programme, but as admin said, it's not just orphanages, or Turkey in particular, unfortunately. I detest abuse to anybody and would lock up and throw away the key for abusers.
I hope that the places reported are in the minority and that most, as in the Mugla case are well run.

We can only help in our own way. as admin said, nothing will replace parents for these children, I just hope that if I can provide a little something that helps the kids have fun, and be happy on a day today basis, then it's a help to them growing up with a happy outlook on life.

i didnt see the programme on purpose, as i knew i would be deeply disturbed by child sufferring, whateveer country its in....

just like here, with the baby that has recently been killed, and had lots of broken bones , including spine......

i am pleased that ICR collect for one orphange, i can do some good then, and can imagine the smiles on the little faces as they see the stuff being delivered, and even having a wash in soap, must be a luxery after some of there little lives, before the orphange.....

not forgetting the ones, who have no family left.....

so well done to ICR, i know its only going to help a few children, and i much prefer to focus on those that we can help, as for me, its just too traumatic to think of some of the others and what they suffer :(

John
I am sure that anyone who has met you, Rami and all the staff at ICR would never think badly of any of you, you all come across as caring people, so in May let's have a drink together.
