have you thought of becoming a holiday rep. I was a holiday rep for 1 of the big companies last year and it was a great experience.

It's hard work and not as much partying as people think. the company also pay for your accomodation and you can earn commission on top of your monthly wage which is about £400-450. So i would advise you to take some savings too.

Although you can't request exactly where you want to go if you have good knowledge of a specific area and can speak some of the language then there's a good chance they'll place you where you want.

It's a really good way to grow up, especially if you live with your parents and you also know that your medical is covered and your insurance.

Hi

My 19 year old daughter is living in Armutalan for the summer and working in either Marmaris or Icmeler depending where she gets sent. She is working for a medical centre and they send their staff to big hotels just in case the tourists get ill, she has to sort out their insurance and everything.

I was very apprehensive about letting her go as she is my baby and for a long time there was only me and her and we are close, but after a lot of discussion I decided to let her go as there is nothing over here for her at the moment and i know that it was her dream.

I am glad that i let her go as she is loving it and has so many friends there now that i am think she will be going out there again next year.

I dont want to press your dreams down put the reality is very different than the holiday image as you see there..

i have been lived it and it was a great experience but very hard one..

Im married with a turkish man and we didnt have any other choice than spend time in icmeler 'cause my man couldnt get in my contry.

We lived in basement where was only beton (concrete) walls and floor.
one carpet we had. And we shared toilet with 13 people. I was only woman in there

i have lots of wonderful memories and i met many great people.
But still at the same time i have seen how crule the life in under the "holiday paradise"

People cheating each others (mostly turists), always you have money problem.. You ever cant be sure will you get your money or not.
And you are working long long days if you really want get "good" money.

but of course if you have a chance to try it, i do regement. but dont push your all life just for it :)

Good luck! :)

Thanks, Neriana - it's good to hear first-hand information from someone who has been there, done that. Holidays are one thing, but the reality of working in another country can obviously be very different (and much harder), so that kind of information is very helpful. I don't think it's going to deter my daughter, somehow - but we're coming back to Icmeler in October, so maybe that will give her a chance to make some inquiries and see if she is still determined to do it.
