I'd choose Dave's suggestion but I haven't got a romantic bone in my body.

loads of good ideas here but I would suggest that you think what would your girlfriend find romantic. Some of us would love everyone else being in on it - others would prefer a 1-2-1 moment.

My son took his girlfriend to a restaurant in Marmaris on the beach - think it began with a H - havana or Hana or something like that. He booked the table nearest the sea. They'd already got engaged but he asked her again so she'd had the everyone around and then the quiet moment. The young romantic (can't believe he's my son!) had their fav song on CD which he'd given to the waiter - when that played, he got her up to dance (thought it's not a dancing place) held her tight and said it all again. She said she melted. Think I've just found a romantic bone!
Whatever you do - it's about the two of you and no-one else so make it special for both of you. You're as important in this as her. But enjoy it all.

I like Victoria b's idea, the waterfall restaurant would be lovely, especially if you could get the table right in front of the waterfall. I got engaged 3 years ago in Icmeler, my husband proposed to me on one knee on the balcony of our apartment, which was really pretty as it was at night and everywhere was lit up. We got my engagement ring from Mehdi at Geenhouse jewellers, he designed it himself so I won't find anyone at home with the same ring. He also designed our wedding rings to match it which we bought at the same time. The gold in Turkey is very good value, my ring was valued when we got home at £800 more then what we paid for it. I can't recommend him highly enough, we buy jewellery from him every year. He doesn't rush you and gives you plenty of cold drinks whilst you are choosing. Hope it goes well!
Julie.

Please let us all know what you decide!!!! I'll be there in September and would love to know how it all goes. Be careful not to put the date you decide to do it on here or you could end up with a great big crowd of weeping women around you, too much sun, wine and romance is all too much for us ladies to handle sometimes.

Congratulations (in avdnance) and do what feels right for both of you. And well done for thinking ahead! I'm sure whatever you do - the locals will be all to willing to get involved and make to really special for you.

Brian, aw the best mate!

I am actually not GeordieDave I am Jon from Glasgow and we were there last week in August. I went for the quiet beach approach at night and then we went to the Romance Palace where they lit fire crackers, sparklers etc and baked us a huge cake (thanks Mosquito).

Brian, if you havent got the ring I can recommend a frined in Icmeler who owns a jewellers and will make you a fantastic ring at a great price. Be worth at least double in the UK.

Personally I would propose to her in the cafe del mar. Cant think of a more romantic place, overlooking the bay with candles and ohhhhhh so lovely. Its along the crazy paved footpath passed the laguna hotel and up a slight incline keep going right passed the brothers bar, and then its the next one along. Breathtakingly gorgeous, hope you get on OK and that she says "YES!" :D :D
