Re: Turkey Holiday Visa

Hi

i have just had an email back from Ministry of foreign affairs of turkey, i asked if the e-visa has been put on hold until November but apparently not, it stated: As we have announced earlier, visa on arrival will no longer be available as of 10 April 2014. At the moment there is no decision to defer this date.
so looks like we still have to have an e-visa.

Re: Turkey Holiday Visa

The e-visa for entry into Turkey has been up and running for a year now with no problems, so there should be no teething problems come April when it becomes compulsory. As mentioned above it is the responsibilty of the traveller to know what visa requirements are and to ensure they have this visa to travel, the travel agent makes NO money from the visa and therefore they do NOT have to allow you to use their facilities to apply for the visa (although I'm sure many will help out if they can).

Agree in part with what you're saying LaneyICR

But surely agents have a responsibility to give the correct up to date advice?

I've heard so many stories of people being informed by their agents that the £10 visa upon arrival is still valid for this summer.

It would be better for them to say they don't know but thats bad customer service.

Re: Turkey Holiday Visa

I have contacted my travel agent and explained our situation re no printer to print our visa out and she said that she could print for out us. Just hope they stick to that promise as when i've had a look on the evisa website it does not go as far as July yet so will prob be another couple of month until we can get ours.
Yes like the above post says travel agents were still telling people they needed £10 at the airport for their visa - us included in that. They are obviously not doing it to deliberatly give out wrong info but at the same time they are miinforming their customers and once the customer has been told right this is how you get your visa (at the airport) then they obviouslythink they know they have to have one and how to get it so have no need to look any further into it as they trust the word of the travel agent. They are the sort of teethig problems i think will happen, with those people getting on a flight to then find out their travel agent gave them misleading information :?

I do agree that it's better for the travel agent to say nothing then to give misleading information. With regards apply for your e-visa it can not be done more than 3 months before travel, which will explain why you can not apply yet for your holiday in July. Also it has now been announced that at Turkish airports there will be online booths for people to use if they have arrived without a visa (thought they would have to have something like that).

Hi

Just thought I would post this link from the Travel Weekly website:

http://www.travelweekly.co.uk/Articles/ ... ystem.html

Lots of agents read the Travel Weekly and although they should already be aware of the changes (& telling their customers) this should help indeed spread the word.

We always book with a Travel Agent in Gateshead and they sent us a letter advising us of the requirement and offering to do the application for us. Even though I was happy to do it myself, Mrs Toon went into the shop and got them to do it ( "We booked the holiday through them, let them do the work!" ), for which there was no charge.
Don't know how many other Agents would do the same though.

Thats great to hear Tim.

I agree not sure how many others would offer such a good service.

I suppose if they are going to try and compete with the online market service is more important than ever - trying not to sound like Martin Lewis here :)

Hi all

I have just had a message from a friend advising me to check the Mailonline about the Turkish visa. It says that ABTA and the Turkish Authoritise have agreed that the " stamp in your passport visa" is still available at the airport until December 2014. Can anyone clarify if this is true.

Sorry all should have stated that it was printed on 26/2/2014

Re: Turkey Holiday Visa

Hi Mads other half

I understand from another forum that this article is incorrect and has been retracted.

The 'stamp in your passport' visa will be abolished on 10 April however you can get a visa on arrival at a kiosk but it will be about £20 as opposed to around £13 if you obtain prior to travel.

To stop misleading info all you have to do is get a visa solved :D

Re: Turkey Holiday Visa

07 Mar 2014 10:49

There is a lot of conflicting information being given through various social networking sites and through media, however, none of this information has been confirmed by the Turkish government themselves. I would still advise getting your visa before flying because I would not want to risk arriving at the airport and discovering I couldn't get my visa at the airport or facing long delays while waiting to apply for the visa at a booth. If you apply for your visa online before you travel, you can then go straight to passport control on arrival at the airport. Apply before you fly at www.evisa.gov.tr
