Seems to be happening more, and more so this year! I think perhaps it's because so many cheap sites offer the rooms, the owners/managers will get paid a pittance for them eg this year we paid £18 a night at the height of the season, when the going rate used to be around £30.
In my experience, people booking direct with the owners tend to pay around that price for August so I suppose it stands to reason that they will give the best rooms to them - or people will book direct and specify which room they want.
Also, with the accom being offered through so many sites, it stands to reason that they run the risk of overbooking if they've not got a tight reign on things.

Dont take this the wrong way but most staff would love an attic room.
It is the norm here for most staff to bunk up 4 or 5 in a bit of an hovel some where out of site. If we look in the right direction from ours right at this moment I can see through an open door some of the Julian Forrest staff sprawled on the floor on matrasses. This place has rented an old hotel [Cem] that is due for demolition and are useing it as a doss house for their staff. and to be honest they are living like pigs.

My point exactly peli, that's why I said they should be used for the staff.
They're used to the heat and would love to stay in them.
Where as the paying customer who saves all year for 2 weeks of holiday Isn't used to the heat & deserves a room of a decent size and with working air con!

Not naming or shaming the hotel/bar but was talking to some waiters this year and was told they slept on the roof of the hotel with a blanket  as there was no room at the inn so to speak we were appalled considering the long hours they work , and consider the owner to be a true gent and friend but rooms are money and if the waiters dont like it there are many more who would gladly fill there shoes .

I have to say, now that this has turned into a debate about attic rooms. I always choose a top floor (attic) room at Rhodes Apartments. Yes, I know they have a sloped ceiling, yes, they have a closed in balcony and yes, they do get rather hot. But I love the view I get from my room. I ask for the same one every time. They have the same floor plan as all the others so very spacious, seperate living area, large balcony like I say with excellent views to the mountains and across Icmeler to the sea. :D
Each to their own I suppose.

I would have been happy with out attic room too Sami, had it been just the 2 of us and had the aircon worked, as we too specifically booked the attic room for the view and balcony privacy.

We too have asked for attic rooms in a few places apart from oh bumping his head on the sloping ceilings  theirs a lot too gain from attic rooms the views are outstanding and no one scraping chairs above you and looking over the balconey , we stayed in golma beach this year in an attic room and the view across to marmaris at night was amazing.

Just returned from Sahin Palace, and I felt I just had to reply to the above topic. They were absolutely fantastic. This is my fourth visit to Sahin Palace, so it can't be all bad. The room was cleaned daily and the Managers have an excellent working team. Some people just like to moan about anything and everything. Sahin Palace don't need these kind of people staying at their apartments. Have already booked to go back for three weeks next year. Believe you me, I have been going to Icmeler now for twenty years and these are the best apartments that I have ever stayed in.

I disagree. People don't like to moan about just anything.
Of you've paid £600 + for rooms and your toilet bin doesn't get changed for 9 or ten days, the rooms are cleaned daily, but not actually cleaned, you have the same bottom sheet for 7 days, your aircon doesn't work, your fridge doesn't work and your towel rail is hanging off then you have every right to complain & 'moan'!
Just because your place you stayed at is run perfectly as it should be, it doesn't mean every other one is!!

Were you not staying at Senem as opposed to Sahin?

Chris & Anita Dont know what you are getting at? but I do think you might get what you pay for in Icmeler as the prices are ridiculously cheap.

I put this post on because they concern being anyone who books direct get good rooms, when booking travel agent you don't.i don't mind attic room but that not what I and others have paid for.i don't want a balcony that has no furniture on it and won't c anything cos balcony wall is to high and need a working fridge for medication.al good reviews are peeps that book private.when you save hard for a hol you expect to b able to sit on balcony view or not without the great wall in front,my point has been missed somewhere

We sell Sahin and have done for many years but we have not had it showing online (this will be fixed at the end of the season as i think people havebeen told to watch the website

We allow good things and bad things to a certain degree to be posted on our forum as ALL is GOOD advertising

I did write a piece yesterday and for some unknown reason it never went online but I will try again

For next season we will have hopefully most accommodations in Icmeler on our website to book direct from us.

If people want to book low end accommodations or 5 star accommodations then that is their prerogative so now they can

Not everyone is the same in this world and as the saying goes "one mans meat is another mans mutton" I rather like the one that goes "you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear" and it just goes to show how diverse we all are

Personally if I have worked all year for my holiday then I want something nice so go for the more comfortable places with the most ameneties at hand.

Not everyone can be pleased with everything and if you step off a plane after an 8 hour delay your mind is already cranked up so will pick on the least bit of anything

Hi all
I think most of us would like somwhere nice after working all year for our holidays but if we arnt there to look at places we can only go off the brochures or in my case reccomendation from people who you would hope are being straight with you
Are we now saying that if you get a bad acomodation that you havnt spent enough so your getting what you deserve
I dont think anyone intentionaly goes on holiday to not enjoy it
Cheers

We have stayed at the Sahin 3 times now and the 1st time I emailed them and asked for a ground floor apartment as one of our party due to medical reasons find stairs a problem. I got a lovely reply from Umut reassuring me he would make sure a ground floor room was saved for us and it was - please note I did not book direct with him, I booked with a holiday company as I did the next 2 times and we were treated like Royalty every time. These are one of the best apartments I have stayed in, the only problem was that last October they closed the bar and restuarant in the middle of our holiday and sent the waiter home and there were still 9 guests staying but as I said in another post a few apartments did this. I will not hesitate to stay there again but will not go to Icmeler in October.
