Where to sit on the plane?

well, i dont want to start thinking too much about things like that but, i did think that if the worse does happen it is always the front that goes down first isn't it!! but like i said i'd prefer not to dwell on those type of thoughts but i know where your coming from

Just to point out to you daisysun - although as I have said in a previous post I have booked seats this year, a few years back I did this - Flying out of Belfast was great no queuing or checking in just dumped the bags and had the booked seats - however the return journey from Dalaman was very different. When we went to check in (early I might add) they said they had no note of the pre-booking and in fact my two children were not booked on the flight at all - even though I had all the booking details. By the time a Thomas Cook rep was called and sorted it out everyone in the queue behind us had checked in and there were only single seats on the plane. As they could not seat the children on their own we had to stand on the plane while a stewardess had to appeal SEVERAL times over the intercom for two people to sit separately to allow me to sit with one child and my husband to sit with the other. It was only when free drinks were offered for the journey did anyone volunteer, resulting in me at the back of the plane with my daughter and my husband at the front of the plane with my son. But sure its all part of the holiday!

I pre booked my seats in March, as soon as the facility became available, for a June holiday. Seats 5A & 5B on a Thomsons flight. I have just read in the newspaper 6A & B are the safest. I dont know how thats worked out. However, even pre booking, does not stop you being stuck with a toddler behind you kicking the seat or an adult in front who imediately reclines their seat. My two pet hates!!!!!! But come on, its economy and you are on the way to paradise.

The legroom nowadays is so small, they shouldn't be allowed to do it. They are probably the same holidaymakers who get to their hotel and have a towel on their sunbed at 6am and leave it on all day. no thought for anyone else, grrrrrr sorry to moan but talking about seating brings back memories of a seat back, in your face and you don't say anything cos you want a nice peaceful holiday

i wonder how they worked out what the safest seats were?

that post about having the seat infront of you put back and your seat getting kicked from behind and not saying anything because you want a peaceful holiday made me laugh because that happens to me nearly every time! even to the point of smiling at them if they look at you so as not to have any confrontation

On our first trip to Icmeler in 2005, we made the mistake of paying our rep for guaranteed seats together on our return trip - what a waste! Made absolutely no difference. We queued with everyone else and we we got to the front of the check in desk just asked for 'seats together please' and thats what we got. Our paying extra would have made no difference at all.

I have been onto their manage my booking part of their website and it is not letting me do anything and when i go into FAQs it says that you can't do anything until 90 days before your departure date (mine is further away than that) so why and how come some people going in Sept have been able to choose their seats already?????

It's really weird as I booked with Jet2 in Sept last year for July and booked my seat then!

I have been onto their manage my booking part of their website and it is not letting me do anything and when i go into FAQs it says that you can't do anything until 90 days before your departure date (mine is further away than that) so why and how come some people going in Sept have been able to choose their seats already?????

It's really weird as I booked with Jet2 in Sept last year for July and booked my seat then!

yeah thats how it should be, i think you should be able to choose your seat as soon as you book.
We have paid to pre bbook them but def can not choose them until 90 days before hand

I always specify a seat on the inside of the plane. It gets a bit draughty sat on the wing.

It doesn't reallymatter where I sit, being larger than the average gent I wedge myself into my seat and accept that 4 hours discomfort is a small price to pay for my holiday.

I would much prefer to sit at the front. And I do mean the front - I like to see where I am going.

As long as I am on the plane going to Icmeler it really doesn't matter. Mind you if its a T.C. Airlines plane then I arrive with a sore nose from it rubbing on the seat in front. CATTLE TRUCKS!!

Sorry Katie, but what happens if your luggage is last on to the conveyor?

We pre-book seats with a bulkhead behind us because, if we don't, we always have the screaming, kicking weans behind us. It's the same leg room and we don't ever recline seats as a courtesy to others.

but normally the turks are very quick at putting the baggage onto the reclaim belt

Gave up smoking last October so will be able to get a seat inside the plane this year lol
