No problem Chris, it makes a lot of difference when there's 9 of you.

I've been wracking my brain trying to remember who I got insurance from at the beginning of last year because I only paid £7 for the two of us but it's not come to me yet. I'll be sure to let you know if/when I do remember! :D

I've just re-read the quote mentioned above for travel insurance and it is actually £12 for both of us not per person as I originally thought.

That really would make a difference for you and you friends Chris. :)

I'm always careful to make sure the policy covers everything I need. A lot of the 'budget' insurers offer tailormade policies so you can choose what you do and don't want.

The best deal I've found today so far is £8.73 for two of us with http://www.insurancerepublic.co.uk via http://www.comparethemarket.com, it was actually more than £2 cheaper this way than if I'd gone direct to the insurer.

Another thing to consider - do you all need to take cases and pay the extra? If there are a few of you going, towels alone can take up one bag's weight allowance - and they are very cheap to buy in Icmeler, so you could save that bag. At the end of your holiday donate your towels to the lads in your favourite restaurant, they are always very grateful to receive them! Buy all your toiletries and suncream in Icmeler too, saves you loads of weight. We were even chatting last year about getting most of our holiday clothes once we got there, but that's quite extreme!

At the end of last year there were notices all over East Midlands Airport that you could take a carrier bag from one of the airport shops onboard in addition to your hand luggage, if this is still around this year, then that's an extra bit of free baggage too! :D

Or you can do what I've done and bought a Rufus Roo travel jacket to put all your hand luggage in and some things that used to go in the suitcases. It holds up to 15kg and it's worn as a waistcoat. You only need to wear it as you check in your suitcases and as you board the plane. The rest of the time you carry it as a bag using the armholes/shoulder area as the straps of the bag, unless you want to wear it. There's even one pocket large enough to carry a laptop. Simple really, except that when you wear it you look rather overweight. Never again will we need to check and double check the weight of our suitcases and hand luggage. :)
