I agree with most of what has been put, we have also felt pressured to eating in the accomodation restaurant and when we have voted with our feet we were ignored by staff. I just think if you are by the pool eating at lunch time and have already paid to stay at the accomodation they already have a chunk of your money anyway. Needless to say haven't tended to return and stay at these places their loss.

that really suprises me about the bonjour firat is very professional and i always thought this was one of the better managed places, friend of mine and grandaughter stayed in marmaris one year and the manager actually ripped pages from their passport in temper (i kid you not)needless to say they swiftly checked out, theese idiots who are a minority are spoiling things for everyone,i have a list of hotels i would recommend to friends now,we are very lucky as we get to stay with family, and i would have put the bonjour on this list however having never stayed there you just never know....Another thing that i have mulled over is ..have you noticed at most hotels/apartments you have to pass the bar to get out,one set of apartments have blocked the main exit to the road off so you have to detour past thebar i also noticed this in marmaris, another had the entrance to the adjoining bar (nothing to do with the hotel)blocked off so guests couldnt cut through

We have also had a bad experience this year. Stayed at the same apartments as we have done 3 times before, the staff were different this year. After 6 days the reception rang our room and asked us to settle our bar bill :?:
We always pay for food, drinks etc as we get them, we never have a bar bill. When I went down to sort it out, the bill was for the day before we arrived at the apartments, when I tried to explain this, the bar manager said I had made a mistake. He was extremely rude and said if we didn't pay the bill we could leave the apartments. I rang our tour operator who tried to sort it out, the reception staff apologised for the mistake, but we were ignored and made to feel uncomfortable by the bar and pool staff to the extent that we went out every day. We were not the only one's that had problems with imaginary bills and over-charging. This was our 14th time in Turkey and definately our last. Things have certainly changed over the years, and not for the better.

We had a problem at The Captain Silver Apartments two years ago. We realised that we were being ripped off in the bar, so after a couple of days we kept our own list of what we had drank and ate; not just our extended party, but other guests did the same. They were adding items on big time. But when confronted they even accused a family member of ordering items, not noticing that this person had been away all day on a trip! Anyway we voted with our ££££'s, for another two weeks we did not spend a penny in the bar. Then last year we were walking through the bottom of the main square, the same rip-off artist was now working the front of a restaurant, asked us if we wanted to eat in the place? The look of guilt on his face when we answered and explained why not very loudly. Since that bad episode, we always check the bill and have found 'mistakes' several times.

please please dont be put of icmeler, there are a lot of decent people living and working there ,sadly i dont think i am allowed to name the honest/decent bars on this site as it could be seen as promotion but beleive me there are quite a few.I think some of the problems can be contributed to the hotels renting their rooms at such low prices they feel that they need to recouperate their money via the bar/food etc. a good sign is if the acts/belly dancers/break dancers dont come round asking for tips the bar/hotel owner has already paid them theese places are usually quite decent. It is a shame that some turks cant seem to see past their nose and can be quite greedy ive tried explaining the dont bite hands that feed you theory to them but it falls on deaf ears ,(more so coming from a woman in some cases).there is still a lot of good in icmeler dont let theese greedy types spoil your fun otherwise pay as you go i know its awkward and inconvienient but it puts the cat amongst the pidgeons, this isnt only an icmeler problem it happens in marmaris too,

I have been going to Turkey for over 18yrs now both to Marmaris and more so now Icmeler . I have to agree that over the years have witnessed some very rude people who work in bars and hotels but I have also met some wonderful Turkish people who have become friends to both myself and my husband and we will continue to holiday in Icmeler.
I have friends who have been and would not consider going back for the same reasons that are being discussed on this problem, I find it sad that my friends will not go back to Turkey for this reason and think that most of the Turk’s are like this when they are not all the same.

with ref. to added on drinks, ive never had a problem because the bar i always use put the orders straight onto the bar PC via the waiters pda. at the end of the night you get a fully itemised bill, no problems, been going there for 5 years without a problem, i know the turks are a bit slow to take on new technology(with the exception of music and flashing lights) but if all the bars etc followed this lead there wouldn,t be any problems.

As far as I can remember in 8 years I have challenged the bill twice and had drinks removed, but I think this year I will monitor my bar bills a bit more closely just to make sure.

We've also noticed more "mistakes" on our bills over the last couple of years, in places where we're not known. Never had any problems in our regualr haunts. We always keep tabs on what we have, so we know exactly what the bill should come to, and always pay at the time for anything we have in the hotel bar/restaurant, although they don't seem to like that. We had the old "Why you don't spend your money in my bar?" moan a couple of years a go, and although we loved the place, and would have been happy to return twice a year, we never went back. They just don't get it. If they hassle people like that, they lose their custom. Plenty more places to chose from. We've found another one we like, and we'll stick with it unless we have problems.
I have met a lot of people who would never go back to Turkey because they've had a bad experience with one hotel, or restautrant. That's unfair. We've been going 11 years, and had our share of rude, greedy people, but we've learned how to deal with them and nothing would put us off now. It's my money, and I'll decide where and how to spend it.

any hassle you may get will not compare to the hassle we got last year in Alanya. We thought we would try somewhere different, BIG MISTAKE. From our 1st day we could not step out of our apartments without being hassled, we have been going to turkey for 12yrs and have never come across anything as bad before. We were in the minority all menus signs etc were in scandinavian, russian etc all prices were euro we even had to ask for the price in YTL. When we entered restaurants they were polite but never engaged with us and as soon as scandinavian, russian etc came in they were all over them and could not do enough for them, it made us feel very uncomfortable, it was not until 2nd week that we found a nice restaurant they even put rugby league on for us much to the disgust of some swedes that came in, it transpired that the waiter that served us had worked in Icmeler for a couple of years and told us he would be returning there this year :!: so do not moan too much our holiday was spoilt last year as we could not get away from it, back to Icmeler this year and next can't wait :D :D :D
