The hotel where we stay has an AI option which is called Flexidine, every night it looks the same:

burger and chips
chicken and chips
meatballs and chips
sausage and chips

some love it as it means they aint got to drag the kids around town and it gives less money worries when the kids pester for drinks and ice creams

you buy 3,5,7,10 or 14 days. Seems an ok idea if your world evolves around chips....

my worry is that you will have to book your favourite restaurants now rather than just walk in

My theory is that Turkey are getting ready to enter the EU and as such EU standards must be met. Hence the culling/Upgrading of establishments that do not come up to standard. It will be interesting when I go next July.

Our meagre attempt to bring some humour to the subject (over in the photo forum, for obvious reasons):

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year (esp. the bits spent in Icmeler, of course!)

What have people got against AI hotel tourists? It is stupid to think that all AI tourists sit around the hotel day after day drinking and eating chips, burger and chips and anything else with chips :( We have been AI for the last 4 years as it is like a safety blanket to us just incase we run out of cash towards the end of the holiday...at least we are sure of food and drink. Our hotel manager actually asked us once if we didn't like the hotel as we were never there. We are out everday on boat trips and site seeing. We hardly ever eat in the hotel, not because the food isn't anygood, but whilst we are in Turkey, we eat Turkish. As I put on another post, we take £3,000-4,000 spending money with us, and every penny gets put into the Turkish economy. So please folks...don't brand all AI tourists the same as it is an insult :(

We are also in defence of the AI, we went AI this year, and the reason we did was beacause we like to stay beside the pool all day, just having our breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks at the Hotel we certainly got our moneys worth. We said we would eat in at the Hotel one evening but never did, we ate out every night.Having booked for the same next year, we have been to Icmeler lots of times and we find this option for us works well, and we still visit friends and lots of different resteraunts. We also found the standard of food in our AI was excellent.

Sorry Colette. I totally agree with you, but I am a little fed up with people slating AI hotels and their guests :x

In no time, we will all be talking about the new bars being announced so this topic is going out of trend and everyone is a little bored of it obviously :)

As for AI Holidays or Self Catering holidays, or BB or HB. During the season, for a total of 180 days, each day and night, we get the chance to see and observe all visiting holiday makers.

No one needs to slate or insult any particular customer for their board choice. I hear&read this alot, chips and burgers at AI and the profile of customers who go there...then I hear Self Catering customers who cramb 4-5 in an apartment and go to Tansas for their meals and never eat out or do anything.

Sorry, both may be true for some BUT both VERY wrong when stereotyped. Obvioulsy we deal with a substential number of guests each year of our own thus with hotels they stay in. We have so many customers who try a bit of both, stay in SC and the next trip down, stay in AI - some complain a little, some complain a little more and some go back to SC,BB,HB or some love it and come back. Afterall, at the end of the day, there are good choices, actually very good choices of AI Hotels like Munamar is one, Aqua is another. Hotel S and Mirage are not bad at all and Blue Rainbow although its a 3 star, it had different and nice food each time I went there to eat my self. But, you may not like what I liked so its totally about personal preference. P e r s o n a l P r e f e r e n c e

When I stay in an AI hotel, this should not mean I am a cheapo and that I will eat anything :) Also, if I stay in an apartment, this also should not mean I will go to Tansas everynight, cook my pasta and eat in.:)

Holidays are what we make of them, not just about where we eat and drink but with who we spend our time with and how much fun we are having with them.

At the end of the day, my preference of hotel and its board should be no one's concern...;)

One more important point to make is, in my opinion, AI dont neceserraily hurt country's economy anymore than the Self Catering does which I can explain on a different topic one day:)

Not sure if anyone has 'slated' any AI hotel.....People are entitled to opinions and observations and these have been given.

Turkman09
Could that be the re-opening of the Pyramid or Noels, both are near the Titanic, and both were closed this season :?: :?:

I don't think the whole of Dreamboys has been demolished - from the pictures posted on here earlier, it looked as if it was just the bit at the front.

If you go to page 4 of this thread, katie, dinky cath has posted pics of quite a few of the premises which have been affected - as you will see from her pics, some have gone completely, while others, such as dreamboys, only seem to have been partly demolished.
