Turkey will be cheaper

Postby geovil » 25 Mar 2008 18:53

The way things are going in the UK at the moment Turkey will be cheaper than ever this year, the way prices are going up here everything you look at in the shops has increased dramatically over the last couple of weeks, since the budget prices are going higher and higher,a lot of people who usually holiday in the UK will be looking to go abroad this year as it is getting more and more expensive to live here never mind holiday here, and you can bet the interest rate is going to start going up again .

George I have just had a weekend away at Bowness in the Lake District and a pint was on average £3.00

Crazy I know but I find out what the price of beer is in the resorts then I can get an idea of all the other stuff.

Average meal in the area was £15 per person unless you wanted to pay £6 for fish and chips every day

It does all depend I can get a pint for £2.20 here, I am sure Turkey has been subject to the same inflationary pressures (price of wheat & oil in particular) that the rest of the world has been suffering

I recently returned from Fuengirola and found the prices there to be considerably cheaper than Turkey and the UK. Now I dont know if this was because it was off season or not, but a pint was 2/2.5 euro and a four course set meal only 6 euro. These were not one off prices many places had similar prices.
The main problem now is actually getting to Turkey, accomadation is very well priced its just the flights which still seem very high, in comparison to other areas and even last year

If you dont mind sitting in a bar with smokers all around you packed in and a telly in the corner you can find a pint for 1 euro.

It tastes like crap though and if you want to go and see any acts in bar street then it will cost you.

I did sit on a beach bar Sunday afternoon and had a nice relax with a decent pint and it was 3 euro

If you look around in Benidorm you can find decent bars with decent prices, and Spain has done what this country should have done from the start and that is have smoking bars and non smoking bars,it happened in Spain in 2005 almost shut down a lot of the bars until the industry gave the government an ultimatum and they changed the rules.

Sorry George but all changed now mate.

I walked from Levante end at top of hill to Benidorm old town and through all the back streets and never saw one bar that was non smoking.

I did see a few places where it said no smoking this side and that was because people were eating there but you could touch the table from the smoking side.
