Tandoori Sizzler/Old Famous Kitchen

Postby JT » 26 Jan 2011 14:06

For everyone or anyone that remembers the Old Famous Kitchen that was owned by Hakan and Levent of the Tandoori Sizzler, it will be back in Icmeler this season.

levent just called me to let me know he was fishing at Selimye (lucky ****) and that he now has all of the original chefs from Old Famous back this year so now Tandoori will have another neon sign up saying Old Famous Kitchen.

You can now have your favourite meals along with curries.

Good luck

Hahaha Gene I knew you would be first to reply to this as you remember.

Old things like apple pie man, he is still there or what about the Ayran cart man, the best Ayran anywhere until the council stopped him.

That is the best news for a long time, there has never been a restaurant to beat the Old Kitchen. The boys were saying in October "you'll be suprised next year" but wouldn't elaborate further, apart from Mums sauces. Roll on May

Lets have all the shops back with all their goods spilling onto the pavement.
But in the meantime The "Old Famous Kitchen" is a fantastic start for the new season.

The Famous Old Kitchen was well before my time, but i am well impressed with the Tandoori Sizzler, so a couple more visits will be on the agenda.

Having only been to Icmeler twice I obviously don't remember it, we're going back in August for the third time, will this place be part of the sizzler under the icr offices or am I missing something. I love my currys but the rest of my family aint that keen so it would be great for me. :D

Hi all

That explains a lot. Hakan & Levent were being very coy last year and i sensed somthing was going on

Book me table for 8 early June, about 9ish!!

OFK was one of the first resturants we visited some years ago now and Hakan & Levent have been friends ever since.

JT, that means you'll have to ferry more ingredients over. lol

Remind Hakan he promised us a bottle of bubbly on our 2011 return. We'll have plank steak i think or maybe a casserole, ooooooooooooohhhhhhh we can't wait, whatever we choose it will be great.

If you never tried the old OVK you're in for a treat

Can they put some comfy chairs in, then it would be great for hanging in after your meal or in an afternoon for a beer for 5 :D

Collette

I'll second that. The lack of comfy seating is why the meet up there last year was not a good place to meet up. We moved to the Scotia bar next door and had a good time, so good in fact that a "gentleman" (loose term) bought me a drink. He was scouse i think !!

Loved the Old Famous Kitchen and was so gutted when Hakan and Levent changed it to a karaoke bar :(
Glad they have brought it back from the ashes :P

I walked into the Old Famous Kitchen 8 years ago (not hassled at that time!) and in the words of Hakan and Levent "they changed my life" .......... met and married my husband, Remy.

Glad to see that it's being reborn - good luck for the coming season. See you soon (back in March).
