Typical prices

Postby pyoungman » 14 May 2010 01:07

As the season has started and reviews are coming in,would anyone be kind enough to give us some examples of prices for food and drink this year. no doubt there is already a thread for this topic but I have missed it, so sorry if that is the case. with only 44 more sleeps before coming home I just cant wait now what ever the prices. :) :)

Prices have just dropped in a lot of places in the resort due to a drop in meat prices.

I saw at Vinces restaurant the other night a set 5 course with any steak for 26 Lira.

I seemed to have eaten at the Tandoori Sizzler since it opened and a chicken madras with pilau rice was about 25 Lira but then of course it gets more expensive when you cant leave alone the bhajis, samosas and the hot and sour soup

I have also read on several other forums that meat prices in particular had increased, although chicken was still good value. To be honest 25lira for a chicken madras and rice seems a lot more expensive than I remember chicken dishes being last May

Volcanic ash permitting I will be there in 8 days and will give an update whilst in Icmeler

I have to agree the curry and rice meal seems expensive at 25 lira when compared with the 5 course steak meal for 26 lira at Vince's.

I agree, does seem a bit steep for a curry.

Dont get me wrong 25 lira for a curry is about £11 and is not hugely expensive, its very similar to UK prices. But I seem to remember most chicken dishes being around 15- 18 lira last year.

I eat many curries during the year in the UK so tend to not have them when in Turkey prefering to eat the casseroles and kebabs.

if the above prices are correct turkey is getting more costly than other holiday resorts, ie beer is cheaper in England sunday dinner's only £5-95 for carvery only differents is the sunshine.Turkey prices are equaling eurozone prices and this will drive people away, sorry for the moans but that's life

If prices do continue to rise unfortunately I think this will encourage more amd more people to go AI. Luckily enough its only my better half and I that go on holiday now and we can afford to eat out each night. I feel sorry for those who have perhaps youngstres/ teenagers as this will be expensive for them to eat out and the cost of drinks

Went to Fuengirola in February and found the prices there to be very good, perhaps because it was off season, and certainly cheaper than Turkey

I think the £ is worth less this year, if you then add a few Lira here and there for meat, food, drink ,petrol increases in Turkey, and lets not forget some of the bars have had to be knocked down only to rebuild a few months later!!!!!.
How can they cover cost's???.. By puting prices UP.

I dont think It will be Legs of Lamb or fish in salt for us this year :( . We will be going for value for money :D .

Whatever we have we will be happy :D . It's ICMELER :D

Do we only really go to Icmeler because it's cheap or was cheap, even if prices do equal eurozone prices i don't think i wanna do Spain Portugal or Greece anymore, i go to Icmeler because of all the places i have been this is my favourite by far, just imagine what the prices in Greece are gonna be this year, they are going to have to recoup their massive losses somewhere and as the tourist industry is probably the biggest money maker i think holidaymakers are going to get hammered, i already thought Greece was getting very expensive before this. :(

I appreciate that prices have gone up all over not just in Turkey and agree that price is not the be all and end all for choosing a holiday destination. However if you have a family or are on a tight budget it is something that people may need to consider

It's ok saying Greece has to get back the money they owe in tourism by putting the prices up, people just won't go there, look at it this way if you put prices up say 25% then you would have probably 35-40% less people going there. You make money by giving value for money no matter what you say people want a bargain, no matter where they go. It does seem looking at the price of a curry in Turkey is more expensive than over here (i live in the west midlands so the curry houses here are to notch) we would pay about 9 quid for a curry with a massive nan and rice. Holidays now are becoming a luxury.

Good post adewolves. I don't go to Turkey expecting a cheap holiday either just value for money, and this is where posters on forums like this help by giving reports about food and drink prices.

Yes totally agree this forum is a godsend as far as I'm concerned, but surely the way prices are going up everwhrere shouldn't you have a post designated to prices to this topic. Prices in June may well be different to people going in August...just a thought. As for all inc I seriously could never do that, the way I see that is if the food and drink is rubbish you will spend more money in the long run. The only way you are going to get ai and get decent food and drinks is if you pay for it. If it sounds to good to be true it normally is. Icemeler is more than an holiday, it's more about the people, they are sincere unlike Spain or anywhere else that I've been. I went to Spain 2 years on the trot to the same place half board. First year was great brilliant sunshine and lovely food, second yaer food was crap it hammered down of rain for the 2nd week and this was in high season. Holidays abroad aint about what you do with your money, it's what you do with your time. If I spend 2 weeks in Yarmouth in a caravan I can guarantee at least ten days of rubbish weather unless I'm very lucky. And guess where the money goes then especially if you've got kids....hammers down of rain money being thrown into grabbers slot machines etc. Oh yes one of the big things every bloody country could do is lower the price of soft drinks which is a rip off no matter where you go.

Looks like the buffalo bar will be a popular place, especially if you have kids and having to stick to a budget.
