This was owned by the mayors daughter in previous years and is still owned by her, but has now been taken over by a danish couple and a turkish couple who are lovely hosts and make sure you want for nothing.

The Facebook page of the Lal restaurant with the photos shows what has been lacking in Icmeler for a number of years now, a true feeling of Turkish culture. This has slowly disappeared from the scene since we first visited Icmeler and it is a delight to see it reintroduced .
I believe this restaurant will be very successful for a long ,long time.

I totally agree with you John, we can get all the 'fast food' places at home. Its just nice to get a bit of their culture. I can't wait to try this place. We have been going to Icmeler now for 16 years and have never seen this kind of place to eat. As you say this kind of restaurant has been lacking in Icmeler. Let's hope it is very successful for the new owners, and that they perhaps set a trend for other typical turkish restaurants to bloom in future.

The LAl restaurant have launched their website including details of the menu. Jan has said it's not quite completed but should be completed during next week.

90% of the menu is now online, just reading them is making my mouth water, I think I will be going a few times to try the different choices.

It's a lovely menu - the food is just soooo good, and nice to get away from the ubiquitous chip! :D

We got home last week and ate at the Lal during our stay. This is what used to by the Meyzhen and is definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is really traditional and relaxing with live music and the food was absolutely delicious. A bit more expensive that some of the restaurants but worth it if you want good traditional food in a genuine relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely be going back in August. :D
