In the next Avon campaign, its buy two for £4, excellent value. Make sure its the original one though, blue, not the pink one.

I have always used the Avon Skin So Soft, dry oil body spray, I just spray it on the exposed areas after my evening shower and I haven't had any when I have worn it (touch wood).

Deet is another well known one, but even though Avon SSS isnt actually a repellent, it does seem to work for lots of people.

I have met lots of people who swear by the avon skin so soft dry oil spray. I must not taste very nice as I don't use anything and never get bitten 8)

I always but Autan spray you can get it from boots. Its the best me and my grandson get bit badly. But ive been to turkey since 1989 and have not had many bites. I was told they spray the resorts so no mozies get to fly about. In greece they bite bad

They say it's the Cirtonella in the Avon spray that deters the mozzies. I always use a roll on called Mozzie Milk which you used to be able to buy from Boots etc but I can only get online now from Chemist Direct. It's great because you only need to put a few stripes on your legs and arms etc - total covering of the skin is not needed. It does smell a bit but I don't care because from past experience, if I get bitten I end up at the medical centre with a bad reaction. Touch wood, but I haven't been bitten since I started using it ( 5 years now ).

Avon skin so soft does it for me (not the pink one) Just spray on lower legs as you go out, and you should be ok for the evening.

I know just how you feel, shastie - I always get a really bad reaction if I get bitten too. I usually go to the chemist next to the Bonjour - this year, as soon as I walked in he smiled and said "mosquito bites?" Must know me well now! :)

I used to suffer badly from Mosquito Bites and found that the best thing to do is to spray your accommodation -particularly your sleeping accommodation- with a general Fly/wasp/Mosquito killer spray every evening when the flies are at their most active. During the day, "Off" appears to do the trick.

As for the Avon 'Skin-so-soft', I use this in the UK when fishing and it's about the best ant-midge-bite concoction on the market, indeed several of my fishing partners all now use it and we've noticed a dramatic reduction in the level of 'bites' we experience ... we also smell like something from a cheap parisienne house of ill repute!!!!

I've heard that if you take vitamin B two weeks before you go and when you're there you don't get bitten. Anyone know about this? Have never been bitten in Icmeler but got a bite in marmaris which got infected and had to go to the hospital :( have been using the green avon sss since then and have been fine so touch wood it will be the same this time :D

I have noticed that some people seems to be recommending the Origional "blue" Avon SSS Dry Oil Spray - personally I had perviously used their Summer Moisturising Gel which worked great but I believe they have now discontinued it so I was stuck as to what one to use and I now cant remember what one I have ordered aah- but I was wondering why not the Pink Spray, does that one now work against the insects the same?

The pink spray has a completely difference fragrance to the blue one, and isn't effective against the little blighters!

Haven't tried it, so I don't know if it's true or just hearsay - but one person has told me that the Body Shop's tangerine body butter - if you use that as an aftersun (I use their coconut for this anyway), then this has some citronella in it, and can repel mossies.
I haven't tried it because I didn't want to smell like the man from DelMonte, but - maybe worth a go if someone likes the tangerine one. Will admit it does smell good - but maybe more on a woman than a bloke.
