hi, we are going to Icmeler on 14th Sept, my wife has always fancied having hair extensions and after two years of growing her hair she feels the time is right for them and i would like to treat her on holiday. It is expensive in England and i wonder if anyone out there has had them done and if so how much did it cost and what did they attach them with and were you satisfied with the results. I would appreciate your comments and recommendations, happy holidays and thanks :D

Hi Robozzie,

I have had my hair done last September in Icmeler (extensions) and to be honest, it wasn't great at all  Two weeks after I came home I went to the hairdresser to have them removed again!!! My story:

My hair was still quit short when I went on holiday. I wanted extensions for a while, so I asked a hairdresser in Icmeler about it. He gave me a good price and said my own hair was long enough to do extensions. He gave me a good price (€ 150,- for 60 extensions, colouring, haircut, washing, everything in the price). When I left the hairdresser I was still happy.

Next day I wasnt so happy! At the hairdresser they blow dried the hair in a way you won't see the extensions. But for me, to do it myself... impossible. And because they use an oldfashioned way of extensions (they glue it with little plastic tubes on your own hair), and my own hair not being long enough, you could see the tubes  Besides that it started itching like crazy!!!

I learned my lesson. Will not ever take hair extensions over there no more.

And please don't take me wrong here: it's gone be my 8th trip to Icmeler in September and every time I visit my second home I go to the hairdressers over there. They are really artists when it comes to colouring hair and cutting it. But no more extensions for me!

Hope this doesnt put your lady off... I think in England (as in Holland) the hairdressers are a few steps forwards when it comes to the hair extensions. Like in Holland you've got special strings of real hair tied together which you can attach to you own hair yourself and its just like a hairclip. But like you say: very expensive.

Hope you have a great time in Icmeler! And sorry if there's mistakes in my writing, I am from Holland as you might have noticed.

I agree, Beyond The Fringe is an excellent hairdressers. My mum had her hair cut by Mehmet, he took about an hour!!!!!! What a good job, the staff are really great, although neither Mehmets brother or sister speaks very much English, he himself is very good at speaking English (Better than me probably!!!) I had my facial hair threaded, my nails extended, a face clean and a pedicure. All for a fraction of the price in England, I truely pampered myself. Was also taken out by Mehmet as well!!!!!!!!

Never been to a hairdressers in icmeler, don't see the point when you're on holiday :? will definitely be going for a trim at the selen 2 hotel when I am there all summer as the new hair stylist there is Toni & Guy trained in instanbul. My hairdresser here is also Toni & Guy and wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair...too many things can go wrong!!!

After asking on here last year about good hairdressers in Icmeler unfortunately i couldn't find any of the ones recommended so i went for a look around and decided to go with Figaro on the main road towards market, what a mistake!!! He was a proper bloomin' show off, every customer that came into shop he had to do their hair instead of letting his staff do it and was letching over me all the while i was there and took so long to put colour on my hair from mixing it that within 2 days it had totally gone. Whilst there i decided to treat myself to a facial to which i asked prices as i went along and seemed a bargain, until the bill came. He charged my son 5 lira for each toilet visit, 10 lira for each drink i had and the total bill came to £80!!!! I was absolutely dumb founded. He turned really nasty with me when i asked him to break bill down. When i went back he denied even knowing me!!!
I eventually went to FX hair salon near Vince's and spoke to Nebi, what a wonderful guy. He did the colour all over again for £15 and it lasted 7 weeks before i needed it doing again.
Sorry to rant but some of these so called hairdressers rip you off and i think people should know.
FX has now moved up main road opposite the bank you go down stops to.

I always get my haircut the day i arrive and the day before i go home.I always get my haircut by Murat who used to have a shop under Idas hotel near the underground market. He has now moved to Marmaris (all year round business) near to the big Mcdonalds. The shop is called Art hair.My wife had her hair done for the first time in Turkey after 8 years of visiting and was over the moon with the results. She had a cut, treatment, low lights, high lights and blow dry at a fraction of the cost here in England.
