Demircioglu Apartments

Postby Eatock08 » 03 May 2010 10:15

Hiya all

Does anyone know if the safe deposit boxes are in the apartment or at reception? Trying to decide whether to take travellers cheques or use my bank card whilst over there.

And how do you pronounce the name of these apartments  :D ha ha

It's Demircioğlu so the c is pronounced as a j and the ğ is silent. so it's said like demirjiolu :D

the safety boxes are in reception, about the size of a letter box.
We take mainly travellers cheques we get them free through our bank account, some lira usually about £100 worth or last year because i started getting £100 a month worth when i got paid, i ended up taking £300 worth of lira and english money and cash card. you can get sterling out of some of the cash machines as well.

i never used the boxes when i stayed there, but then i've never used them anywhere to be honest.

Are there any cash machines near the apartments or are the nearest ones in the square?

cash machines all seem to be in the square the ones that were on the main road had all vanished, if you cut behind the baron / valentinos restaurant, with LFC bar on corner, walk straight down and you have the underground market on your left thats the machine i used last year, it worked ok and gave sterling as well as lira if required.

That was the quickest way we found from Vinces.

we could never pronounce it either, we just called it vinces lol.

If you turn right when you come out of Vinces, and walk past the Kingsland Chinese, there is a bank next door, its down about 12 steps and thats the one we always use. Its about a 5 minute walk from Vinces/Demi.

The safety deposit boxes are by the reception and there is always someone there at the desk, day and night, its really safe.

Thanks Reesy!

Think I'll get a safety deposit box as usual and take my travellers cheques.

Anyone know the cost to hire a box and air con for three weeks? I like to have this ready for when I get there

Thanks, Alison

The following link shows the A/C at £4 per day, but I cant remember how much the safety deposit boxes were.
