I think that's a fantastic idea - let's all try to do our bit to raise as much as possible to help Icmeler's animals in need - canine, feline or otherwise!

Don’t post much but before this turns into more of a bun fight I would like to comment.

First of all I think the sponsored walk up the hill is a fantastic idea, a great way of meeting forum members, a great sense of achievement and raising money for a good cause, also members who are not doing the climb could meet up with the hill walkers on return and make a donation, or drop a donation into the office.

Secondly I must agree with Garry here, there is a fascination with cats and dogs by some members on the forum which at times is can be off putting,

Garry’s also correct in saying not everyone would pay money to sponsor a cat and dog home especially which is not in their own country.

Can I suggest a couple of idea’s please

1. Sponsorship money would go towards paying for a child with special needs or illness, to a holiday in Icmeler (possibly a member of this forums family or of a forum member of who knows of a good cause.)

2. Pay towards taking local children with special needs to swim with a dolphin

Ps this is a great idea please make it count

Unfortunately, the animals in need cannot speak up for themselves, so if no-one is prepared to help them, what then? Personally, when I donate to charity, it's animal welfare which is my main priority every time, so I'm more than happy to contribute to that. If others feel they'd rather raise money for another cause, I don't think there's anything to stop them doing so.
I think all ICR were suggesting is that they've concentrated on raising money for a particular cause up to now, and maybe it's time for a wee change. However, if people want to carry on raising cash for, say the orphanage, I'm sure ICR would be only too happy to pass their contributions on.
I don't see the need for this thread to descend into bickering about what constitutes a "good cause" when all people are trying to do is help those in need - human or animal.

I understand everyone's sensitivity. Our main priority will ofcourse be for the most obvious to our own eyes at a given time...so everyones feelings can differ but the important thing is;

We all care and thats what makes us better.

There is no need tro argue at all... - Lets simply make about 3-4 categories of donations and raise what is possible but lets do it in a loving, caring and understanding way. At the end of the day, all we are trying to do is help and thus satisfy the urge we carry for helping "another" stuck in the cycle of the nature.

Meeting up for a beer, having get togethers after sponsored walks, paying a visit to rehab centres, taking a disabled child to dolphins and many more ideas that you put foward are being taken into consideration.

If someone wants to walk up a hill then come down and give their money to a dogs home then fine.

If other people want to go up a hill come down and grab the first deserving person and give them the money that is fine but garry don't turn this worthy cause into a little fight especially the time you were posting last night.

Colette doesn't have kids but has a cat and I suppose that is her child, I have kids and even a grandchild now and I have been down the road of the orphanage and believe it or not its actually hard work now to give an orphanage a donation.

I would rather you gave the money to someone in the village in Icmeler as they don't all have money to throw away and see it being used than take it to an orphanage (that now would not even let you through the doors) and know that you have actually done good.

Btw I will not be asking someone for a sponsor because as you know I will not be climbing up that hill but I will be sticking a donation in as I sist at the bottom of that hill in Tommy's bar recording the ascent on film for everyone else on the forum to see.

I did post this last night but for some reason it seemed the board was a bit glitchy and it never appeared.

I understand :)

You can tell them that it will be used in the direction that they choose from the following:

1 - In helping the children in need
2 - In helping animals in need
3 - In helping the environment

For more percise causes, we will have to wait as we will not be raising money until the season starts. Before the season starts, Donna and Michelle will be in Turkey office to organise and contact respective authorities and people to see what there is out there that we can be of anyhelp.

Once the help is completed, percise nature of the help will be posted to public on what has been done as we always done in the past.

Good luck and how nice of you trying to maximize on the amount of sponsors. Thank you.
