I think that may be the case, katie - I believe some of the places which have been demolished (or partly so) are going to be rebuilt. No doubt people like Rami and cath will keep up updated on the progress which is being made. Icmeler will still be the place we all love, I'm sure - just with a few changes along the way!

Just had an e mail from Speedy who works in the Sport Bar. He said don't worry about the bar being demolished because it will be open for next season. They must just be doing it up.

Sorry if i offended anyone when i mentioned the all inclusive option in the caribbean, but it was my point of view and i am entitled to that especially after 17yrs of icmeler, we dont stuff our faces all day and drink, but we do take part in other things like activities, non motorised sports, archery shooting games etc.. and watch the shows in the theatre and dance in the nightclubs etc.. which we dont pay extra for. My concern is that by clearing the restaurants on the prom where are the people going to go for their lunch, are they going to trek all the way back from the beach to find somewhere to eat and also who is going to give service on the beach where the coco beach and erdem and cafe annie gave the service whilst you lay there and had drinks and food brought to you from people like idris (messi) etc.... if the bars/restaurants are not there .... thinks about it, and also whilst there last june and september, i thought it was awful to see police come along and destroy the boat trip stands every couple of days, tape put round where the businesses were etc... and people then in little huddles to try and buy the boat trips NO MATTER WHAT THE MAYOR IS TRYING TO DO i go on holiday to relax and not see local politics pushed in my face and hard working turks/kurds thrown out of work and lorries on the prom with police throwing advertising boards into the lorries at 6am in the morning - who wants to pay a couple of thousand pounds for that....I AM TRYING TO SAY WAKE UP MAYOR AND SMELL THE COFFEE, IF YOU PERSIST IN THIS TYPE OF THING WE CAN TAKE OUR M ONEY ELSEWHERE.... after looking at the plans on the council website, there are fountains planned at the denis kapisi end etc... is that to entice business to those empty buildings by where the boats were sent? is he trying to make icmeler more up market for the yachting set? and with prices to match, you have to ask WHY is he doing all this?

It's not just Icmeler, all the resorts are doing the same by removng extensions/properties that do not have planning permission, it appears to me that it is more a government directive due to the number of resorts being impacted.

I am looking forward to seeing the changes.

Well I'd like to know where you can go AI in the Caribbean for £900.

Unless it's in some right dodgy "up and coming" resort in the Dominican Republic, out of season, at the Hotel El Cockroach, in hurricane season :?
