please be aware

Postby unitedman57 » 20 Sep 2009 05:58

In the last week a friend of mine was bitten/stung by something when he was out with his kids .He went to the hospital when he did`nt feel to good the triage nurse thought he might need to be admited but the doctor sent him home and told him to take some painkillers, this was last Sunday,Wednesday he was rushed to intensive care Thursday he suffered a heart attack. He is 38, they have manage to stabilize him but have told his family he could be in intensive care for at least a month and in a critical condition for that time. Also in August my brother got bit by a horsefly on his wrist by the next morning his arm up to the elbow had swelled that badly that he could`nt move his fingers, he spent 24 hours having anti biotics through a drip then 2 weeks via tablets. So please careful even in this country with any insect bites you might get.

Well all the best to him and I hope he recovers very soon.

I know at home this year, we are inundated with wasps, you cant sit outside for more than 5 minutes and you are swatting them away. I got stung in Greece about 7 years ago, once on the stomach, which was fine as Phill sucked the sting out, and then I got stung on my left hand. I had to go to the Pharmacy and get creams and sprays, but by the time I came home, my left arm was swollen to my elbow, I had to go to A+E the same day and they had to cut my rings off.

Just a bit of an update this week he has been moved out of intensive care on to a side ward, the doctors are still worried that he might have to lose his toes and this is giving him some bad days, but on the whole he is doing well.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes I pass them on when I talk to him and it gives him a bit of a lift to think that people he has never met are concerned how he is getting on.

Just thought I`d let you all know what has happened with my friend,he came out of hospital the begining of November. He had to return into hospital last week as part of his ongoing treatment,he had an operation which was the removal of 9 of his toes.He is now back home and doing ok,he seems to be in a good frame of mind which is good and is positive about his future.
May i take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind words that I have passed on and wish you all a very merry christmas and a good 2010.
See some of you in August I hope
