New Airport

Dose anyone know if the new airport is open yet? if so whats it like has it reduced the time you take to get into it through the xray machines?

Came back through Dalaman on Sunday and still same old grotty terminal.
The last report we read said it would be open end of June, which one 2007,08,09 who knows

We came through Dalaman on Sat evening i asked the check in desk person about when the new one opens he said 2 weeks and it is that big you will get lost in it. We will have to wait till Sept never mind should be worth it.Cheers

According to a Turkish source on HT the new airport is now open.

We returned from Dalaman on Monday,and it did not look ready,I may be wrong.

Mustapha on HT has just posted tonight that the new airport has now opened.

Opened after midnight last night/this morning and already there are terrible problems according to our drivers so looks like it will be another month before everything is ready

JUTT GOT BACK THIS MORNING WENT THROUGH NEW TERMINAL NO PROBLEM DUTY FREE SHOP SOUND no hassle only one big shop sorry about the caps still tired

The new airport opened on Friday. We flew out at 5am yesterday morning, What a nightmare, the check in staff were on work experiance, none of the machines were switched on when we arrived to check in, none of them have labels in the machines so we stood for about 3/4 of an hour waiting for them to start everything up. The airport is not fully finished and some buidling work is still going on. Certain sections are still closed off. Plus the lights kept going off whilst we were sitting in the bar??

Other than that it is a million times better than the old terminal, much posher, much more spacious and plenty of room for everyone to sit. Loads of duty free and restaurants.

totally agree wýth glm, we arrýved yesterday at Dalaman aýrport and ýt was a nýghtmare. We had to queue to pay for our výsa then walk to the other sýde of the aýrport through massýve queues to then pass through passport checks and then downstaýrs to get our luggage. The luggage carousels are terrýble. they only let baggage down the chute when there ýs a space, and as most people are stýll upstaýrs then the chute stops. Most people were takýng all the luggage off the belt so that ýt would move so that the luggage would drop. Eventually we got on our coach 2 hours after we arrýved ýnto the aýrport, so be prepared for looooong queues and frayed tempers are there was a lot of annoyed people. We dýdn,t arrýve at our apartments ýn Icmeler untýl 9pm, after a very long day as our flýght left glasgow at 9.30am. Wýll wrýte a report on our return jopurney when we get home, away to enjoy more blýsterýng heat!

Friends of ours arrived at Dalaman on the flight we were returning home on and having spoken to her since ive been back, she said they were stuck at Dalaman for 2 hours waiting for everyone to be gathered up becuase the bags etc were taking so long. Im sure it is just teething problems and hopefully everything will sort itself out, big question is was the airport ready to open or did they rush into it?

Just got back this morning through the new terminal. 2 hour delay on the flight back to Glasgow but not the fault of Dalaman.A few teething problems as you would expect and notice that there aren't any seated areas(apart from restaurant/cafes).These would come in handy for delays.
Otherwise very smooth and above all the building is very well air conditioned.

New terminal opened on Friday. I flew out of Dalaman this morning. What a shambles. Checkin etc is a nightmare we were waiting in a queue for two hours and all other flights were the same. New duty free is excellent although the layout is confusing.

We actually got transported to old side of the airport to board which we all thought was crazy.

Good luck if you will be using this mad house in the near future. Think it should get better when the teasing problems are sorted.

I came home from icmeler monday night and yes the new airport is open. some teething problems but much better than before.

we got back yesterday came through the new airport, we had a nightmare check in it took us 45 minutes to get through and there was only about 20 people in front of us, not enough screens to check on your flight and they didnt call us to the gate so we nearly missed the flight!
