The Robin Hood whilst not in the best location is a large place with a good stage area so might be ideal for the Stella Show

It's quite a bit smaller than the Harmony bar so will definately book a table next year just in case.

Rami from the Harmony told us in August that their lease on the Harmony was up next year
That accounts for the move to the Robin Hood :)

The "new" mayor is actually the mayor from about 5-10 years ago. He had done many good things for Icmeler and is quite right in closing down all the bars/restaurants mentioned which as you will note are the ones causing all the problems in the village. I have lived in Icmeler for ten years and am disgusted by the antics of these restaurants.
They have dragged Icmeler from one of the most exclusive resorts in Turkey to a place renowned for toyboys and ripping old women off!
I am quite in agreement with the mayors proposals and hope these rumours are true! The mayor is a very powerful man in turkish towns and has the power to close these brothels down and I hope he excercises his powers, then we can say goodbye to these male prostitutes once and for all and return Icmeler to the beautiful place it was.

I've been told by someone from Sport Bar that they are not being closed down, but they have to have some work done on the building to comply with new regulations. Unfortunately, bars are not being closed because of the behaviour of the people who own them, or work in them. If they were, there wouldn't be many bars left open! I've been going to Icmeler for 10 years and I'm sickened at what's happened there. Icmeler is a beautiful place, but it's rapidly getting a very bad reputaion among the turkish resorts. It's such a pity. All power to the mayor if he can restore it to the friendly, safe, place it once was.

here here again! I certainly don't feel as safe in Icmeler as I did a few years ago and it's a shame

When OH and I went in October, we stupidly went in a bar in the early hours which we've always just walked past before. We realised our mistake right away and left promptly without touching our drinks - suffice to say that we had felt so intimidated, we stuck to the main roads going back to the hotel, with one eye over our shoulder!
We've never experienced anything like that in all our visits and while it won't put us off returning, that bar will be off limits for our daughters from now on.

So yes, if the new mayor's actions take care of this type of thing, I for one am all for him

if we are all honest we have all seen something dodgy or not quite right but dismiss it as we are in holiday mode, while being in one of our favorite restarant/bars we have witnessed on a few occasions things that are not quite right and in this country wouldnt step into an establishment with these goings on . so maybe things should be done to clear up icmeler and return it to what it once was , that said there is always corruption and sleaze what ever country

Does't every where change over time, I bet Bitez, Alanya, Kassiopi etc has all changed over the years, to the extent of good and bad. Because we visit Icmeler, some members several times a year we see change more

However if we could please return to posting rumours of where we think is being knocked down next.

I can tell you most of the beachfront in Marmaris is now rubble, but these guys work hard, so I am sure they will have new places up and running in no time at all :D

I heard that some places have to make minor adjustments to the buildings to fit in with regulations i.e. dream 3 bells have to do something with the toilets and the roof. But some other bars have to be knocked down completely as they are illegally built i.e. dreamboys!!! I am heading back out in feb so will see if there are any developments....i guess only time will tell as to what is true or not!!!

have to agree with couple earlier posters, ive been going to icmeler near 13 yrs now, and lived over there as i have turkish husband, it is definately changing. when i first went it was much more couples and older people, very nice, much quieter and much more turkish. The likes of Venice (then Venedik) and Majestic were still there which was brilliant because there wasnt so many of this type of place...now too many trying to be like that though. too many places doing same music, same dance, same routines, you hardly ever even see traditional halay anymore :(
i am partner in a bar over there and have heard same rumours about the mayor and was told it was to do with structures/roofing etc. which bars would likely be closed/knocked down...Icmeler was perfect the way it used to be, so maybe it would be better to have a few changes to make it more like the old days... the "youngsters" who are now going back because they "grew up" there must have liked it just as much before?? You only have to read some other websites and facebook groups to see what a bad name Icmeler has been getting and unfortunately it is linked to some of the places rumoured to be closing. As already said, there are too many bars and restaurants now, all competing for those tourists who are not AI and i like others think this does affect staff moral and the way we are all treat. Having said that, i will always return because i love the place :D
