Help with UK Visa Application

Postby helen2904 » 30 Sep 2009 08:38

Our son is getting married in April, and two of our friends in Icmeler would like to attend. We have been friends for 16 years and would love them to be there with us. However, they keep telling us to send an 'invitation', but we don't know how or where to start. One is a teacher and the other a businessman. Can anybody help, and maybe take us through it step by step? This would really be a dream come true if we could make it happen.

Thanking you all in advance if anybody could help.

In order for someone to visit you they need to show that they have been invited by you. This adds support to their visa application and provides a reason for the visit. You will be known as the 'sponsor' whether or not you are providing financial support/accommodation.

Your letter of invitation should include the following points:
Who you are and why you are in the UK - i.e permament resident?
Who you inviting to visit you / relationship with them
How long you intend for them to visit you and the reason for the visit
If the visitor will accommodate and finance themselves (they need to provide proof of this)
If you intend to provide accommodation (you need to prove this)
If you intend to provide finance (you need to show you are able to financially support them i.e bank statement)
That you know you will be standing as sponsor and that you will ensure that they return to their home country
That you hope the visitor visa will be granted.

Hope this helps - good luck!
