Alanya

Postby unitedman57 » 29 Aug 2009 09:18

Got back home at 3-15 this morning just thought I would let you know how we went on in Alanya. The airport is not as well organise as Dalaman for arrivals it was a 15 min wait for a visa (watch out for the Russains who think they don`t have to line up like the rest of us)then thru passport control the usual happy smiling faces.Waited 45 for luggage then went to meet our transfer, trust us to have the one that gives all the others their jobs finnally got away after 1/2 an hour he asked if we wanted to stop we said no thanks. It took approx 90mins to Alanya when we got to the aparthotel the deskclerk said our room was`nt ready we would have to stay next door so we went to the next block flopped down and dived into bed. Awoke next morning about 10 am went tot he shop attached the hotel when the manager came and asked if we could call at the desk he asked could we move out asap as the place we had been put was someone`s private apartment he said we could have the choice of any of his empty one`s ,so we looked and choose one went back loaded up and returned to unpack. The rooms where great plenty of room,so after unpacking we went on a mooch about to get or bearings we found we were in a mainly residentail area all th people were as usual very friendly we were abut a 10 walk to the front/beach and when we got our first sight of the front we realised how massive Alanya is it is a proper working city.Apart from that we got into our routine found some good resturants and bars (and some iffy one`s) the one thing you notice about the place is that it is more for other Europeans no prices in pounds euro`s/dollars/roubles.That said we have had a nice 2 weeks.Word of warning the local council has the bins emptied overnight the hotel we were in was done between 3 and 4 am(and not quietely).I don`t think we would go back not because of the people but just because the place is to big.Anyway must go got to booking for next year in Icmeler today.

hiya
we have an apartment in alanya so im going in just over 6 weeks time
its not a patch on icmeler in my opinion as your right it is a huge city like marmaris but with lots of russians and germans
the british are not catered for nearly as much with the food not anything like icmeler
i would never choose alanya over icmeler but unfortunately my parents bought there so we have to go
anyone interested in a 2 bedroomed apartment in alanya ? ;)
