A few tips please

16 Aug 2009 17:59

As we are first timers to Icmeler I have a few questions wondering if any one can help. I think I have read most of the posts on this site and have noticed that some mention taking extentsion leads, Is this just for self catering or in hotels? We are staying in the Marmaris Park. We are travelling from Birmingham 25th Sept have read lots of comments about luggage allowance just wondering if its worth buying toiletries airside after cases have been booked in and taking them as hand luggage.(anything to take that extra pair of shoes) Also is it cheaper to buy a beach towel when we get there or I think I have read somewhere that you can hire them. :? Any advice will be great.

I've never bothered with an extension lead and never had a problem wherever I've stayed, plugs have always been conveniently located.

If you're not fussy about brands I would say yes, you'd definitely save on weight if you bought toiletries and books airside (which makes an absolute nonsense of the weight restrictions doesn't it!).

Some hotels/aparts hire out towels, not sure about the Marmaris Park, though they are cheap enough to buy when you get there - just be careful you don't buy a deep colours as I have seen people do this and the colour has run with sweat  I always pack 1 towel and buy another out there (I like to have 2 - one for beach and one for pool/boat trips).

You'll have a fab time and I'm sure this will be your first visit of many!

Hiya & Welcome

You can buy two beach towels for £10 along the canal, I dont take an extension lead but I suppose it could be useful if you need to plug in a few things at once lol. I buy some toiletries after security at the airport depending on luggage alloawance etc have a great hol

You couldjust take those miniature toiletries and buy the full size locally in the Tansas (supermarket chain - there's a small one in Icmeler and a bigger one centrally in Marmaris). Always do that and it really saves on the weight.
