That's right diane, the sempati is really nice. had a couple of really nice meals in there last year. there's also one at the bottom of that road which is also very good....can't think of the name though :?

as for the trattoria bistro, we had good service and good food in there. shame steve had a bad experience but we couldn't fault it.

We are at the Celik in first week in September :D and ICR Site is now reporting no more availibilty for this period. So I guess the Scott Travel vacumm has been filled now.

Any recomendations for restaurants, bars etc near to Celik as it looks like its a fair way from the centre? Can you estimate the time to walk to the canal Area and then the Beach Front for me. How practical is the walk in the heat or should we opt for taxis or buses.

Thanks

John

Icmeler is busy we were just there last week and there was loads of people walking around-however loads of people walking around with wristbands on and not spending a penny! The problem in Icmeler is simply down to the amount of hotels going AI. People are staying in and getting their monies worth and then going for a walk later on and maybe having one or two drinks. Last week in bars such as Linekars you couldnt even get a seat-it was so busy but these are just bars and people are just having a drink when their AI finishes. Its the restaurants which are being affected more than anything. Lets just hope no more hotels change to AI because one by one all of these restaurants will have no option but to close.

I honestly hope that more hotels don`t go all inclusive but i`m afraid they will as more and more people have seen their spending power in turkey go down, the costs of eating out several beers etc has spiralled to a point that a lot of people cannot afford today.
It was only a couple of years ago when a bottle of efes was only 50p now your looking at £1 - £2 and your also looking at £15-£20 pp for a meal etc.. will drive your average tourest to go AI.
I know that the euro zone is still more expensive than turkey. but we all want value for money and this is the driving force behind most peoples decissions about going AI.
The next thing we will see will be a mass exodus to countries like india and goa where you can eat for as little as £1 and beer is 50p (does this ring any alarm bells?).
We love turkey and will continue to go for our annual hols as long as we can afford it but how long will it be before we start looking to either go AI or even to other countries?.
sorry to sound so neggative but i fear this is the way things are going.

3 more sleeps and icmeler here we come.

It'slike everything else - the more popular it becomes the prices get bumped up. :(

Got to agree. last time we were there, we were welcomed by Gunay (owner) and his wife. We had a couple of lovely meals and the kids were spoilt whilst we were there. Cannot say enough about this restaurant. :D
