Could anyone tell me do any of the
ICR trips include a visit to a Mosque, my son would be delighted if he had chance to do this. If not are you able to enter the Mosque in
Icmeler ?? Thanks Jenny

I think the village tour includes a visit to a mosque - click on the excursions link at the top of the page and it should give you details. Must admit, despite the fact that I'm not religious, I would love to visit one. Think it would be fascinating.

I should think you can just go into a mosque in
Icmeler - as long as you dress appropriately.
The only mosque I've been in is the Blue Mosque in Istanbul - absolutely amazing!

We visited some mosques in Konya last year, they were breathtaking. Appropriate clothes must be worn and shoes removed at the door.

yeah shoes must be removed and you cant enter when its time for praying
appropriate clothes must be worn and some like the women to cover their heads

Ok, know about removing shoes, but can I wear a vest type top, never take proper T shirsts, what about shorts, again never take trousers with me, just "cut offs", but always have a pashmina handy would I need to wear that, what is the minimal acceptable considering holiday type clothes. Would love to see the inside of a mosque but always worried about appropriate dress.

Trousers should be worn, or at least cropped trousers and I would think a proper t shirt rather than a vest, but not 100% sure.

We are just back from
Icmeler and went on the village tour, it was very interesting. This trip includes a visit to a Mosque, I had shorts and a vest top on. They provide you with a scarf to put over your head and you take your shoes off (or take a head scarf with you). The rest of the tour is also very good if you want a day out. You have apple tea in a ladies house and have a look at how people live out in the sticks! It also takes you to see how rugs are made which is fascinating. Lunch is provided which was ok, just enough for lunch time - the fish has a head so don't order that if your a bit squimissh like me! All in all a good day out, hope that helps?

Many thanks for that information, the village trip sounds just the kind of thing we were looking for, my son is so interested in what is the 'real' Turkey, the local culture etc.

If the real Turkey is what he wants, he will love it! What age is he? Great for all ages, though if you stop at the waterfall it's a bit of a trek to see it for older or less abled people. Enjoy your holiday and the tour.

Hiya, thanks for all your replies. My son is 14, and has a thirst for history and knowledge so the village tour sounds just right for him. Can't wait on countdown now only 23 more sleeps.
