Where do people come from to go to Icmeler?

10 Mar 2009 00:56

Obviously from viewing this site, Icmeler has a large and loyal band of British holiday makers.

I was just wondering what the international make up of Icmelers tourists is.

In Kusadasi, 2 years ago, last May, our hotel, Aqua Fantasy had 3,500 people in it at the time....(Yes, I know. Too big) but it was a huge hotel.

I would say 1,500 Dutch, 1,000 British, 500 German, 500 Turkish until the bank holiday when as we were leaving, the Russians were coming...In their hundreds!!

As a result of meeting some Dutch holidaymakers at Aqua Fantasy ( He car park pranged me when I was picking up my Renault) we ended up in Waasenar near The Hague, last August for a long weekend with them.

Peter and Val, the very tall and pleasant dutch couple we met.

My conclusion.....The Dutch are very tall. I am not....The Dutch don't have a word or phrase for Queue or Excuse me, but the Dutch are a very very friendly people.

The Germans, I know through many visits, either business or pleasure, love a good time and a good drink!

Main conclusion

Who ever you are and where ever you come from....We are looking forward to meeting you in Icmeler....because, we will be on holiday and are also looking for a good time.

Hiy,

I'm from Holland and we have been visiting Icmeler for the last 20 years.
When we first started to come there were a lot of Germans and Dutch people in Icmeler, but the last years its more the English we meet.
Not a problem for us we like the English way of celebrating your holiday not so serious and always something to laugh.

hi andytaj and welcome to the forum

we've noticed mainly British & Irish folk in Icmeler with quite a few Dutch people, sprinkling of Germans and more & more Russians by the year - though in our experience the Russians seem mainly to be AI folk

Sorry to be rude but I can't stand the Russian's, absolutely vile the ones we encountered last year, rude, ignorant lot they are.

German and Dutch lovely friendly and polite, English, Welsh and Scots all lovely too. Just the Russian's we couldn't stand - the Turks in the bars/restaurants didn't like them either that we spoke to. 'Misers' was the word used by almost all the Turks we spoke to about the Russians.

Just my opinion tho

There is a few of us Finnish peoplo also visiting Icmeler. I think most Finns go to Alanya or stay in Marmaris, but we just love Icmeler.

Hey Beau, you forgot about your friendly neighbours across the sea in N Ireland. Theres quite a lot of us go there year in, year out

Thanks folks.

We too found the Russians rude and objectionable in Kusadasi.

But what the hoo

We'll mix with our fellow British (I hate the term Brit), Dutch, German, Finnish et al.
