we noticed a british wedding going on at the marti resort last time we were in icmeler.
it looked very nice the setting and everything.we were on honeymoon at the time after getting married in manchester and having our photos took in the rain.the sun in icmeler made up for it though.

We had a German wedding at our hotel last June, it was lovely but certainly surreal - seemed odd the guests all toshed up for the wedding but the onlookers all wearing beach wear

hi elayne

we looked at getting married in icmeler this year but apart from paying a wedding planner extortionate ammounts of money, for the wedding they wanted to arrarnge not the wedding we wanted, we kept running up against obstacles such as getting all the paper work translated blood tests when in icmeler, where to find a priest, pastor, vicar.

we decided to get married in this country and have a blessing in icmeler.
thanks to peli who is on this forum we got in touch with a pastor in marmaris willing to do our wedding blessing on the 9th august this year and we will be holding our celebration in wondeboys in the evening (all welcome to come along and have a drink with us)

if you feel you might want to go down this route pm me and i will give you all the imformation ive got.

hope all goes well for you

Marrying in Turkey

Postby Buncase » 18 Jan 2009 19:49

Hi Elaine

Congratulations.
I was married in Turkey 3wks ago however, slightly different for me as I married a Turkish National.

I would suggest you go to the Turkish Consulate web site which will tell you what to do whether you are 2 Brits marrying in Turkey, a Brit marrying a Turkish national etc. Nothing in Turkey is easy ......
See link below .....

http://www.turkishconsulate.org.uk/en/q ... #marriage3

I would advise you do not leave your Certificate of No Impediment until the last minute - it should be purchased (£30) from your local Registry Office and will be on display there for 21 days.

We are having our belated wedding reception in Icmeler in August as we will be working there.

Wishing you all the very best.

I hope this has been of some help.

Hi Elayne, My wife and I married in Icemeler back in 2003.

It is much easier than you think. We travelled to consulated at Izmir to have paperwork translated. (£250) then to the registry office in Marmaris to arrange date an location (we were at Efes Inn) (£50) then you arrange with hotel what you want.. they did all of ours free except meal of course. The registrar came to the hotel and married us in the grounds.

Very easy overall albeit the coach trip to Izmir to translate birth certs etc..

any further help just let me know and you never know we are there late august till 18 sept.. good luck

We got our wedding rings from Turkey when we were last there. We got them from the big jewellers on the road that Tansas is on but more or less next to the Pop inn. I can't remember what it was called though. The ring i got is available over here in Ernest Jones and it's £625, i paid £250 in icmeler so i'd recommend getting them over there. H also got his, it's an 18 carrat white and yellow gold ring and cost £250, i've never seen anything here to compare it with though.

Good luck on your wedding, unfortunately we'll be home then, we fly back on the 11th July it would have been nice to see a wedding take place on the beach.
