3 weeks or 2 seriously!

Postby Jozzyd » 15 Oct 2008 18:47

We are looking at booking 3 weeks next year 10th August until 31st. Any advice or pros and cons would be much appreciated as we have never done this before. Kids will be 4 and 7 they both love the pool and beach but do you think it will lose the novelty factor? Also whether to stay B & B or S/C, which we usually do for the extra room so we are not all cramped. Any advice greatly appreciated :D

I went for 25 days last year and never got bored.
Didn't have young children like you but if your children enjoy it there i think they will be fine. You will be able spread things out going on trips, going to the beach, staying by the pool, going to the waterpark maybe.

I've looked for holiday's next year and 3 weeks was actually cheaper than 2.

We've gone for 3 weeks the last two years and loved it. Again we didn't have children with us, but don't think that should make much difference as long as they love the pool and beach. Unfortunately this year my OH can't take 3 weeks at the one time (new job) so we've opted for 2 separate 2-week holidays - June and September.

I always say 3 weeks is just right - 1st week to get used to the heat etc - 2nd week to yahooooo and the 3rd week to come back down to earth - slowly.

I'd say go for the three weeks it really is just as cheap as two.

i went for 3 weeks in august my son aged 9 daughter age 12 , first time ever for 3 weeks and already booked next august 3 weeks before went in august and glad i did.we spent quite alot money but i felt it was due to the rate 2.19 compared to may 2.5.the first week i had my son to play pool drink with lunchtime then on our 2 nd week our friends came over so it was nice to spend a week to ourselves normally go in group.my children enjoyed themselves and were happy so 3 weeks every year for us.

3 weeks or 2 seriously

Yes three weeks can often work out 'better value' than 2, but you still need 3 weeks worth of spending money

Thanks everyone, apartment, flights and stuff have checked out and can get flights for less than we paid this year for 2 weeks. We spent £2000 this year spend wise but that was anything and everything as and when we wanted it. Am sure cutting corners just a little would work

We went for 3 weeks for the first time last summer and went for 3weeks this year! Kids were 7 and 13 the first time. The 7 year old got a bit homesick towards the end the first time missing her toys and hamster etc but was great thisyear. Always went to apartments with the kids as you arent restricted for eating etc. Do the usual trips ie boat trip jeep safari etc which breaks it up for them. Must admit would hate to go back to a normal 2 week holiday!! Hope this helps.

Thanks Diane, does help but would not ever do a jeep safari, boat trips are ace, taxi boat etc. kids enjoyed, but worry a little that they would get bored. If the kids are happy, so are we

Why not have a week B+B and then 2 weeks self catering to give you a bit more space and also a fridge.

Go one step further as lots of people do with us and book 1 week in another resort then your last 2 weeks at Icmeler

Thanks admin but not too keen on the idea of packing and unpacking it would drive me mad  Was only thinking B & B might be better money wise, but then again we would probably lose the living area. Decisions, decisions :?

We usually go for 3 weeks and have to say that we much prefer SC as can have a cool drink when wanted or a cuppa.and have plenty of living space that we are not on top of each other.

We went for 3 weeks this year and loved it.
We didn't want to leave though! Hence why we're going to be spending the entire summer there next year :D
Flight prices are usually about the same, sometimes cheaper if you can be flexible with flight times, but hotels are generally cheap anyway. We paid just under £4 per night at the Prestij apart.

we've only managed to do a 3 week trip once - though our 2 weeks are now stretching to 17 days, so we are getting there again ha ha it'll be 21 before we know it

the only problem I found with going for 3 weeks was that we spent our hol telling ourselves we'd loads of time, so we acutally ended up doing less than we would in a fortnight grrrr

i'd def say going for 3 weeks is better overall though - if you go for 2 hols say a week and then a fortnight, you've the extra flights to pay for

can't see anyone who loves the sun, sea and pools etc being bored - including the kids

Hi Jozzyd
We went this year for 2 weeks, not got small children like you but have a 15yr old. My daughter took her friend who's visit was the first and she so much loved it better than cyprus, which is where she goes every year. We have now booked for 3 weeks flying out on the 10th August, staying in the old village at the Blue Star apartments. I am sure you will never be bored.
