MP3 player

30 Sep 2008 18:57

I have just treated myself to an MP3 player. I have loads of Turkish music, some boom boom music, and some 60's music, amongst other music. I also have my book to read on the flight. I hate flying.

Can you take an MP3 player on the flight?

Yes Mary but you can't use during take off or landing. Have a great time! xx

Yes MP3 players are fine. You can also use them during take off and landing as far as I know as it doesn't interfere with anything.

The above statement is unfortunately incorrect.

Following the CAA rules the use of electronic equipment including MP3's is prohibited during the taxi, take-off and landing phases of flight, (when the passenger seat belt sign is on).

For full details see http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... ageid=9853

Once the seat belt sign is off then no problem as long as the device does not transmit any type of signal.

That is true - when we flew to Dalaman in June, the stewards were going round checking that no-one had MP3 players on at those times - my daughter had to put hers off until the seat belt signs went out.

Thanks for that information. As long as I can take it on board, I dont mind not being able to use it on take off or landing.

Thanks again.
