Turkish items around the house.

Postby reesy1959 » 20 Sep 2008 22:48

Whilst reading another old thread, it got me thinking how many Turkish items we have around the house.

Fridge magnets on both fridges (Phill has a beer fridge)
Bottle of kekik suyu (Our friends Mother always sends me a bottle - good for bad stomachs)
Lemon spray on the corner cabinet.
Tea towels bought from the canal.
Turkish dictionary.
Turkish verb book.
Turkish flag.
Turkish knitted clothes (Friends Mother always knits and sends goodies)
Set of 3 hand made jewellery boxes made by another friend.

Things I want to buy this year.
Big Turkish eye to hang above the door.
Bathroom towels.
Costume jewellery.
Pashmina's.

Edit to add
Keyrings
Clothes
Bags
Shoes/Sandals - feet always swell.

I must be sick! I have one room dedicated to Icmeler in my house, full of memories since 1995. I have a large picture above the fireplace, you must have seen it many times in Icmeler, every restaurant has one, its a large photo of Icmeler. The Mayor of Icmeler issued every restaurant with one many years ago, and I loved it. Our Turkish friend told us he could get us one from the Mayor's office, and of course he did. I brought it home and had it framed, so it proudly sits above the fireplace, so If I feel a little bit down during the Winter, I can always go into my Turkish room, close my eyes and I'm there!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny i was going to have a Turkish wall in my kitchen.

Its one of those wasted walls wth the radiator on it, but we're keeping it just plain white emulsion but put the large blue turkish eye, and a gorgous glass lantern holder that you put candles in (I want a bigger one next year) we got the small one this year and a lovely hanging plate we got from the underground market.

So a bit of mix of colours, blues, purples and browny reds with the glass candle hanging thing. and me icmeler pot towels.
