Hi Fanny
I feel Ive got to respond, as Ive been banging on about this!!
I think if you look back into this thread, both my and I think others concern is the midnight prowler who reserves and then dont appear till midday,
This starts the problem that the genuine people get involved in,
You are right its a vicious circle, I say "nail the midnight prowler" and people like yourself need not get involved and sanity reigns!!

But iff people are getting up at silly oclock to save beds, then i would because i want a sunbed, and i stay out there from 8 in the mornin till about 5ish, so mine does get well used.

hey Peli

I totally agree - and only posted really to see what the reaction would be for devilment (and at least I'm honest enough to admit it  )

like I said when we do it, it's only because it becomes a bit "dog eat dog" but there's NO WAY we'd put the towels down in the middle of the night -I should have mentioned that we do get up early and at least one of us is on the bed from 8.00 am

to be honest, when it has become a real nuisance in the past [esp if beds are reserved at each end of the pool or for folk who aren't even staying there], if the reserved beds aren't used by say 10.00 when we've been up a while, we've also been known to just move the towels and use the beds

our approach depends on how cheesed off we are - no way will we let it stress us or spoil our holiday

what a can of worms you've opened Peli ha ha

now, where are the midnight prowlers on here?!? c'mon don't be shy

this year people were just leaving there towells on the sunbeds, not even bothering to remove them at the end of the day.....

we heard a lady discussing setting her alarm for 5 am to wake her up to put her towells out,

and some people were putting 2 lots out, one lot in the shade and another lot in the sun!!!!!

That's exactly what was happening in our hotel in Icmeler last year.

A few years ago in Gumbet aswell we had a few very late nights at Hotel bar, when going to our room about 5am there were towels on sunbeds so were threw them in the pool

Two lots of towels, one for sun and one for shade?!! this brings a whole new dimension to the debate! Unbelievable  Good on you for throwing towels in the pool

sunbed reservations

28 Aug 2008 11:54

I might reserve my bed, but not in the middle of the night, but as people are saying it is the rat race they we have been caught in, but i always sit on my bed by 9am at the latest, what gets my goat is the people who do not come down till after lunch or the people that go to the beach all day and return 4pm to sit on them, this agust we went to egypt god help us and some small minded people actually paid the pool attendents at the start of their hols to keep beds for them we were told not to sit on certain beds as they were kept for their friends my hubby told them politely were to stick his beds. But the Alvaro do not seem to have this problem been there 3times also booked for next agust. I think the problem is a lot of hotels do not have enough beds to accomodate the number of people in their accomodation. well thats my rant so bye for now.

We have just got back from stayin at Captain Silver apartments for 2 weeks & we didnt get a sunbed in the whole of the 2 weeks! That was the only downside to our holiday. It did make me mad that people was putting towels on at silly hours just to get a sunbed for the next day.How sad is that?!? Have'nt they got anything better to do then stay around the pool all day every day? Its just so unfair! :x

Yes we were there at the same time and had the same problem, thanks to the extended family from the chatsworth estate [shameless] who had there beds reserved in the very early hours, but never appeared till after lunch.

i have decided when we go in 10 days, i will either put towells on the floor, or take them to the bar, or get the lads who work there to move them...

if i go down to the pool about 8am ( and thats a lie in for me) i want to sit and have a coffee and enjoy the peace.......

if nowhere to sit........towells will be removed, if they are down but no one is on them :D

why do i feel like saying........let battle commence.......

Luckily at the apartments we stay at (Rhodes) we have never had a problem getting a sunbed. Will find out in 2 weeks 17 days time.

This reminds me of a few years back when we went to costa del sol,my husband removed a couple of towels reserved on a sunbed and put them on the floor, this being witnessed by another sunbather, the people who owned the towels came down about 4 hours later and just picked them up and found somewhere else.Okay fine. The next day i went to the pool at 8 when it all opened and got 2 sunbeds and an umbrella(having a young son then with severe eczema we need a umbrella). We were sitting relaxing when a really bad gust of wind appeared and the ladies umbrella next to us went flying down the road,we tried to stop it but it was so fast so we forgot it.
Anyway 20 minutes later the woman whos umbrella got blown away appeared over the other side of the pool she shouted to my husband youve stolen my umbrella,if you dont give it back im going to smack you in the mouth i saw you remove the towels yesterday so give me my umbrella back or else.We explained that we got the umbrella in the morning to shade my son who has severe eczema and she said no you didnt you f--ng b--d,i have never felt so shown up in all my life, everyone was looking at us and as they all came from her part of the country they didnt want to know when i asked them to confirm het umbrella blew away in the wind. She told my husband to f---g go down the road and get it then if it blew away,to which he actually did but it had already gone. The annoying thing is her husband saw me get the umbrella in the morning to shade my son.I think he was even scared of her.It put me off our holiday and i didnt want to go to the pool after that as i was so scared of this monster woman

Kitty, that must have been really embarassing for you. Some people just have no thought for others, only thinking about themselves all the time.
