Thomas Cook so called vip rate

30 Jul 2008 16:36

Just converted some money into lira and was given the so called VIP rate, but after checking when we got home it was actually a lower rate than the post office was offering!!

Thomas Cook rate: 2.2720

Post Office rate : 2.2886

Its only a small amount but the extra could have been a meal or a few drinks.

So much for the VIP rate... Be warned!

I know we are all looking after our pennies these days , but according to my old brain the difference per £100 is about 45 pence. ( .0166 x 100 = 1.66 = 45p

Ok this has been done lots of times and the best way is to either get it in the resort but not from the bureau de change or from the cach machine in the resort and better with a Nationwide account as there is no charge

Edit: With hindsight I should have added before I locked this post that there are numerous threads all the way through the forums explaining this topic in precise detail and therefore this one is being locked.
