euro travellers cheques

Hi Folks
going to icmeler for the first time next Monday.Travel agent has advised to take Euro travellers cheques. Not sure? What do you advise?or should we stick with Sterling travellers cheques or just take cash? All advice greatfully received ta.

We always take sterling traveller cheques with us to Icmeler,

Dont liston to travel agents you need to take sterling travellers cheques
they are best and you dont get charged commision

'spose it depends on what yo gat charged commission wise to buy them over here?
personally, we always take ££s cash and change them at supermarket over there

Hi

If you take sterling travellers cheques or cash you will get a better exchange rate than euros

Take £notes better still get a Nationwide account and get cash from ATM's with no charges

Thanks for the advice.Have told travel agents we wont bother.Will just take some turkish lira and take the rest cash I think. Getting excited now!!

If you take Euro travellers cheques you will only get the Euro exchange rate, which is about 1.80 lira to the Euro. So you are far better off getting Sterling travellers cheques thats way you are going to get around about 2.40 Lira to the £. I found this a few years back that for some reason travel agents don't like issueing sterling travellers cheques.

Wether you take Euro or Sterling it still works out the same amount just think is it worth it if not sure go on a website called XE it converts whatever you want.

Thanks again for all your advice.Sorted things out today,went for 700 tukish lira to get us started,and rest in english notes(still a foreign currency!) only kidding.excitement building now!!!
