We have not been to
Icmeler for 3 years and was wondering when the market is on?
Does anyone have a rough idea of prices of current tshirts etc. Obviously dependant upon my haggling technique

The market is on every Wednesday and i would say the best time to go is early morning or late afternoon when its not so hot as it does get very busy. I've not been this year so i cant comment on prices or anything but im sure there will be someone on here who can help you.

Hello
I came home 2 weeks ago. The prices at the market are the same as the shops in Icmeler. You can buy the same things from the shops as you can from the market. It's nice to walk around the market though, and have a laugh with the stallholders.
Hope this helps.

I think with the market, you either love it or hate it, I hated it. The first stall I stopped at sold jewellery and I must have stopped for a second and before I knew it, had bracelets on my arms and ankles, I felt so suffocated

Might just be me though x

That was exactly my first experiance of
Icmeler market on my first visit in 1998 and ever since i have hated going to any market, i much prefer to shop in the underground shops.

I totally agree Gemma. My first time in Turkey 12 years ago I went to the market on the first day there and did not know what to expect. I ended up running around my husband as i was that frightened of them trying to get me to try things on. Last year I went back and knew what to expect but still ended up hating it. I prefer to spend in the shop in
Icmeler and not get hassled.
You either love it or hate it.

the market holders were pretty quiet this year we did not get much hassle at all, the bartering did not go down very well this year they are becoming more stubborn and will not budge on prices, we did get a few bargains though

cheers for these posts
just reaffirmed my loathing of the market and reminded me NOT to go this year
will stick to the underground market and canal - much more pleasant

I hate the market as well, and if I do have to tag along, I cant get out of there quick enough....although I love the fruit / veg / spice stalls.
Quite frankly there is not much that you cant get in the shops for same price, and you can still barter in the shops too.

oh yes, the fruit and veg is amazing and the smell of the spices too
I love seeing the "natural" state of them - not as perfect as we see/get at home
they taste so much better too

I love the peaches you can buy in the market, nearly the size of footballs

and when you take a bite, the juice runs everywhere, so its a good idea to stand in the sink to eat it.

just love the nuts you get at the market, bought some that were coated with caramel, I think, they are lovely. Also lovely strawberries. Also got 4 bags for a tenner. Don't do the t-shirts anymore you can get them cheaper in Primark

Went to the market on 21st of May about 2.30 in the afternoon. It was very quiet, some of the stallholders were packing up for the day. Didn't get hassled at all, and the only one's shouting were the one's selling belts for £1 (until you got inside the stall) then they tell you the £1 one's are rubbish and "this one" at 30 lira is best quality. lol.

We found the market dearer than the shops along the canal for handbags, purses etc. T Shirts etc are always the same price wherever/whenever you go.
The bonus is that you can take them back to the canal booths, but not the market, always something to remember
