Hi All

What made you goto Icmeler for the first time?

With us it was word of mouth we had heard so much about Icmeler that we had to go and try it out and we would not go anywhere else now :D

We'd booked to go to Yugoslavia the year the troubles started and had our holiday cancelled. The only option we had was to go to Turkey and a friend suggested Icmeler.... never looked back!!!

We went with friends who had been going for years. We never even considered going to Turkey as it seemed so far away and we don't like flights over 3hrs.
It was raining when we arrived in late Sept and I thought 'Oh my God, I think we made a mistake' as everywhere looked so dreary and drab during the transfer.
Never where first impressions so wrong, we had an absolutely brilliant time and would now not go anywhere else. :D

ICR's fault! We wanted somewhere that still had the Turkish traditional feel with enough for 2 small children to keep them happy and all the reviews on here made our minds up. It was our first time last year and we are back August 18th :)

We originally never ever wanted to go to Turkey - just didn't appeal to us at all.

Then last year we were looking for a cheap last min holiday on text and even said anything but Turkey or 18-30's, everything was so expensive even Spain

So we started to consider Turkey as a last resort  we were offered somewhere in Bodrum or Kusadasi aparently a 5* A/I we hummed and harrred and asked them to ring us back - i got on the internet on my phone and checked it out and thank god we did it was slated in every review.

Then was offered an apartment in Icmeler and the woman on the phone really sold it to us, more the resort than the apartments, so we bit the bullet and took the gamble and it was the best thing we did.

I think we were planning our June return holiday in the first day we were there

Everyone we spoke to when we got home who had been before said we were so lucky we'd gone to Icmeler for our first time in Turkey as it's one of the nicest resorts in Turkey.

That's it we fell in love and are coming back in 2 weeks 8) :D :P

We had only been together for a few months and wanted a cheap last minute deal. Also wanted to go somewhere that we'd never been before with our ex's. Got offered Ibiza or Icmeler, seeing that I'd been to Ibiza before we chose Icmeler. Wasn't particularly looking forward to it and had never even heard of it before, but decided to "suck it and see".

Loved it as soon as we got off the coach and have been going now for 10 years - best place in the world

A friend of my husbands had been and couldn't stop talking about Icmeler.
How friendly it was, how beautiful the scenery was, and how cheap.
To be honest I wasn't very keen as I'd never thought of going to Turkey and heard a few things about Turkish men.

Anyway in the end I had my arm twisted by my husband and gave in. I can still remember being in a bit of a grump all the way over in the plane :D :D

But by the end of the day I absolutely loved it :D :D

That was seven years ago and have been back every year since.
I've also recomended it to loads of people and they too have fallen in love.

I first went to Turkey way back in 1993, i was 21 at the time and my Mum said she would pay for me to go,so went with them and my cousin and friend to Altinkum. First impressions were not good, went to toilet in airport after getting off plane and it was a hole in the ground,i couldn't go..would have been a disaster as i was wearing jeans, then found another toilet which was a normal one,the floor was swimming, i was like jeezo what have we come to,then we had the 4 hour bus journey to get to resort, had to fly to Izmir and Bodrum airport hadn't opened then.
Anyway after a few days in Altinkum we LOVED the place and loved Turkey, made some great friends who we still keep in touch with. That was me hooked on Turkey, have been going on and off since '93.
I've been to several places in between but always end up back in Turkey.
Last year was my first time in Icmeler,we loved it. Going to Marmaris this year but are going to book 2 or 3 nights in Icmeler at some point during our fortnight.

I can't say yet i have a favourite resort in Turkey, been all over, all the places i've been are great in their own ways, the only place i know i wouldn't go back to is Gumbet, enjoyed my holiday there but wouldn't go back.

I love the people, the food, the weather, infact i love everything about Turkey,it's hard to put a finger on what's makes me go back year after year as there are so many things that keep me hooked.

I first visited Icmeler in 2002, and like most people was'nt that keen on going with all the stories and reputation etc. Anyway it was mum's treat so couldn't really pass up a free holiday. First night I wanted to go home, just couldn't stand the all the hassle, but by the 2nd day I was loving it. Only had a week there the 1st time and had a bit of bad news whilst there, so mum and me booked again to go in October... and well this will be my 11th time in 6 years, can't get enough of the place!!!

In 1993 I had agreed to go with my mam on holiday. She usually chose a Greek island but apparently a travel agent recommended Icmeler. I didnt fancy Turkey as I thought it would be dry, smelly and full of nasty men! My mam's friend Jean ended up coming with us. Flew through the night, had the 4 hour transfer from Izmir, was really peeved cos I thought it would be horrible. We got to the apartments in the middle of the night and went straight to bed. However, when we woke up and looked outside it was such a beautiful sight we fell in love with Icmeler there and then. Told all our friends who have all been every year since and we continue to come as often as possible. Been to Tenerife and Kos since but nothing compares to lovely Icmeler!

Again it was a last minute cheapy in July to Marmaris for us, and we fell in love with the place and the people, that was in 2006.

Returned again in Sept 2006 and still loved it.

We returned the following year in May for 2 weeks and again in June for 1 week, that was when we had our first night in Icmeler. We loved Icmeler straight away as its more compact and prettier than Marmaris, so we booked it for September last year.

Going back in 11 days and have also booked for October. I dont want to go anywhere else now.

My mam had told me and my girlfriend about Icmeler and said it was fantastic. I had always fancied Turkey as it seem a bit cheaper than most other places. So back in 2006 we booked for a week. When we got there the usual hassling from the Turkish men wanting you in their bars started and we where a little put off but by the end of the first day you realised a polite "no thank you" and they would let you on your way. I ended up DJ'ing out there in a few bars and it was something else. We had a fantastic time and we went back out last year and yet again had a great time and met up with friends that we had made the previous year. We are going back out this year ( 11/07/08 ) and I cant wait. Also booking to go back next year with the lads. I guarantee you will fall in love with the place.

We were the same as many others - never really considered Turkey before, but were looking to book a week last October. Hubby fancied Tenerife, but the prices were outrageous - saw a good deal for Icmeler, so took the plunge and booked up - and loved it!! Couldn't wait to come back again this year - and now counting down the days till we fly out on June 21. Can't believe we'd never considered Turkey before - it's so beautiful (well, Icmeler is!) and the people are incredibly friendly and helpful! We're complete converts now!
