Tipping at Turkish Baths

Postby reesy1959 » 08 May 2008 04:35

I have just been reading on trip advisor forums about Turkish Baths, and it was recommended to tip the person who washes you.

To be completely honest, I have never done this (although I do tip well everywhere else) but for some reason, I just never thought about tipping this person.

Does anyone else tip at the Turkish bath, and if so, how much roughly do you tip them?

This has just got me curious now.

Off to bed soon after my long nightshift, but not many left now before holidays

We had one done in Grand Aquairium, as the Turkish Bath is actually in the grounds of the apartment we nipped back and gave him a 5 lira.

I've never had a Turkish Bath. What do you wear? Is it naked? do you wear your swimwear? :D

W3ndy

I always enjoy the experience, so relaxing.

Just make sure you have it on the first couple of days of your holiday, or you could lose some of your tan

last year, 2 of us lads from a family group of 16 decided to go for a turkish bath, booked by ozzy to a big hotel in marmaris. It was my mates first time to Icmeler and one of the conditions he had (sorted) with ozzy was the bathing andmassage at the end to be done by turkish women.... Ozzy jumps on the phone does a bit of turkish negotiation, a bit of laughing and he tell us its all sorted. Just as the little mini bus comes to pick us up, ozzy shouts,
"dont forget to come back after and tell us how it was"

We got there, to this big posh hotel, with its own tattoo studio and everything, got told to get changed jump in the sauna and we would go into the bathing room soon, but everybody seemed to have a smile on there face.

We also noticed before we got into the sauna, that there was a gym in the corner with some big turkish meatheads training but didnt think anything of it at the time.

Sauna door opens, and we get show where to go, and where to leave our towels. So far so good my mate was thinking, i kind of new there wouldnt be any women doing the bathing but just kind of went along with it becasue you never know.............

This big door opens and we a pushed into a big marble room with a bench going round the outside and a big square marble table in the middle. Sat and stood around where four big turkish guys waving my mate over to lie down on the table, his face was a picture he didnt know what to do
