handbags!

Postby annpann » 01 Mar 2008 14:58

Hi, it is my first time on here, and my first time to Icmeler, will be there from the 12th May. Anyhow, I have a few questions if someone would be so kind as to answer. I have read in the previous topics that there is a launderette, is this where you leave the laundry and it comes back all done! or self service. I shall need a laundry as I never take enough clothes like to bring too much stuff back at the end of the holidays! Is it expensive, do they charge by the weight?

Next, I note that you can get HANDBAGS!!! yes my downfall, no I probably dont need any more handbags, but that will not stop me. Now we are obviously talking designer, are there all sorts LV, prada, radley, etc. How reasonable are we talking here.

What is the evening weather going to be like, do I need a thickish jacket for the evenings or just a cotton/linen one.

If any women - or the men I dont mind could give me some help here I would be most appreciative. Have started to put things aside for the holidays, so looking forward to it, its an adventure!! Thanks Ann

Hi Annepann and welcome!

I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of your first holiday in Icmeler. Where are you staying?

I normally go the middle of may and you should find the temperatures in the day very pleasant - up in the early 30s but the nights will be a little chilly so a pashmina (you can buy some lovely ones very cheaply over there), cotton or linen jacket will surfice. It's the wind more than the air temperature that makes it chilly.

Oh yes... handbag heaven. But you know you don't have to have a "designer" bag, you can buy just plain good quality leather bags at a fraction of the price you would pay anywhere else. I wouldn't bother with the really cheap ones you can get at the markets as the ones I've always bought have fallen apart or the insides have ripped to shreds within a month of use. One shop I like is the Natural Leather Shop (next to the Chill Bar) in the centre of resort - but not sure if he'll be there this year or not.

There are several laundry places. Mum and I used one at the end of our holiday last August - it was absolutely wonderful not have mountains of washing and ironing when we got home as it had all been done for us. The laundry we used used a lovely smelling detergent and when I open the drawer storing all my summer tops it wafts out and reminds me of Icmeler...!!
I honestly can't remember what we paid but it was worth every penny (we wouldn't have bothered if it had been really expensive!) they seem to go by the weight, ours was a fortnight's worth of day and evening clothes for both me and my mum so quite a lot, we dropped it all off at 10am and it was dried and ironed by 6pm. Fabulous!

You can also leave your beach towel with one of the beach boys when you come off the beach and for 1 lira he'll get it washed and returned to your sunbed the next morning - absolute bliss, you know how stiff towels get with salt water, sand and suncream uuuurrrgh! (that's the Yakamoz section - not sure they all do it!)

Hi thanks for the info, icmeler certainly seems like my idea of heaven. We are staying at the Navy Hotel, B&B, seems great, had some good reviews about it. The washing seems ideal, fancy having your beach towel washed and brought back, died and gone to heaven!! We have never booked a holiday so far in advance before, the wait now seems endless, but I am really enjoying this forum, the help is tremendous.

Thanks to you all. Ann

My family use the handbag shop not far from the Navy Hotel.
As you walk out of the front of the navy head towards the main road with the Romeo and Juliet bar on your right.
When you reach the road turn left walking past the car park you will pass a little supermarket on your left and next door to this is the bag shop, also next door to the bag shop is a first class jewellers shop.

Happy shopping, and wellcome to the Forum Ann.

Hi

For handbag's deffinetly visit "Dennis Bags" it is amazing!
Its the only place i shop for bags now, ther is every style/colour you can imagine. Every time we go i come away with at least 12 bags from handbags to weekend bags, all designer! :D They are very good quality compared to cheaper bags from the markets, i still have a few bags from 2003!

Whereabouts is this shop our lass says she needs to know

Dennis bags is on the same street as club pleasure head up the street as if you were goin to tansas, its opposite Three bells restaurant, diagonal from tansas. Hope this helps!
