Deniz Kapisi

25 Sep 2005 20:54

Just arrived back this morning and i must say what has happened to this place. we have beeing using this beach now for 7 years, always having a few drinks and lunch during the day. First couple of days were fine, then third day we went down to the beacc and got 4 beds by the sea, about ten mins later fred came to us and told us to move as he had reserved the beds for somebody else, that was fine no problem we moved, a bit later he came back to us and was so rude, telling us that we never eat in the restaraunt at night and could we go to another beach and not come back, to say i was shocked was an understatement, i explained that we had used this place for 7 years, but he was not interested and told us to leave.
Back at the hotel that night there were six people in the bar who had also beeing using the beach for ten years, and they to had been asked to leave. Well as far as we and these others were concerned i'm sorry deniz kapisi you can stick your beach where the sun don't shine, there have been many a time in the past in may or october when the place was not as busy and they were begging for our custom, well i'm sorry but we've found a better beach now at the cafe del mar where the beach and sea are much nicer, plus the views from the cafe are superb the food is nicer, cheaper and you get your effes in a iced glass.

Hi Andy,
Cafe Del Mar formerly the Black Rock has fantastic views as you say,the beach has been widened and is the ideal place to sunbathe and you are not pressurised like at Kapisi.

Wow Andy I can't belive it :!:
Like you we have used the beach for 7 years eating and drinking there, this year though we only ate there of an evening once, quite honestly there are better restaurants around. I think you'll have to give us directions to the Cafe Del Mar, because as Gene has said once before 'its hardly a free beach with the prices they charge'

What on earth is going on with this place, is it just the heat getting to people? I have seen Fred move people off the beach because they have refused to buy a drink, but I have never heard of this one before.
I fully understand the concept of 'Free Beach' but please buy a drink and we will bring it to your sunbed and entertain you all day. So whats the problem, if you had been going to the beach for 7 years they surely should recognise you as a regular. I've been going for 5 and they recognise me. Gene I know they know you as you also know Tekin and his family, what if it had been you they threw off, I can only imagine the repercussions on this site. Surely they remember their regulars and I think it is disgusting that they threw you off after regular custom for 7 years supporting them. I would have felt just as miffed.

This is nothing new, some friends of ours, there were about 12 in the group, used to spend every day of thier hols at the Kapisi until one day by way of a change they decided to lunch at another bar, this is after having morning coffees etc at the Deniz.
When they returned to the sunbeds they were asked to remove their towels and go.
This group had spent several years at Deniz evening and night but step out of line or do something that doesnt suit and it doesnt matter who you know or how many years you have supported the place when the waiters get the nod your gone.

You said it Gene 'the waiters get the nod' i'm sure none of the waiters decide themselves to remove you, who does that leave..............?

Spoke to leon at the alvaro on the last night, we were one of many who have told the same story, as i said originally it a great shame after all these years, but its there loss not ours.

Hi all, Maybe a good idea would be to start a protest on here, take the results of it to Tekin to show him the depth of feeling that exists on here for his place. Then maybe he would ask his people to try and treat some of us like human beings.
What do you all think?

28 Sep 2005 01:35

Been going to Deniz Kapisi for ages .. years.., in a crowd and sometimes just me and my husband.
Tekin has never once greeted us or smiled our way , he can get stuffed!

Sorry Norman,

It's always been a routine going to the deniz beach, ever since our first visit to icmeler. In them days of Ronaldho the entertainer we had some great laughs and didn't mind the overpriced warm effes, even when he left it was something we always did. Although i was upset by the treatment we recently recieved, in a way i feel they have done us a favour, as we have moved on and found something better.
If anybody could give me the deniz email address it would be greatly appreciated, so that i could let my views known directly.

28 Sep 2005 05:19

i think that is so rude of them!! to think that you have been going so long and they do that if they carry on that way they are going to drive all their customers away!!! i went for the 1st time last year and all the staff seemed really nice although i didnt go on the free beach or even have 1 meal ther i just went a few nights for some drinks and they wer so nice and polite giving you free drinks and that......god how times have changed lol xxxtashxxx

28 Sep 2005 07:56

:o Like everyone else i am shocked at this treatment.

I spent almost every night of my week in June there for a late drink and a few nights from the 2 weeks in July and was never treated in this way, even after spending a few nights next door in Harmony.

I also received a smile and kiss from Tekin whenever i was in, even an apology for him not being able to speak good English. It wasn't just me but my boy also got a smile and pat on head whenever he past.

I'm not looking forward to my visit next month if things have change so dramaticly.

28 Sep 2005 21:41

Disgusting treatment, you should all write to the owner direct. If no joy, write to the mayor of Icmeler, it's going to put people off going to the lovely Icmeler if they experience this.

28 Sep 2005 23:02

Would the guest care to log in so that we know who it is please, and also supply the 2 addresses preferably e-mail if available. Then I am sure all of us will oblige with the relevant comments/complaints.

28 Sep 2005 23:29

I am suprised though, you would think they would be grateful for the business this late in the season. Its not like there arn't any spare beds on the beach, and even if you only buy a couple of drinks while sunbathing, they are still making money.
I'm there in October we have always loved the place, but if i'm made to feel uncomfortable, i'm off mate!!

there are other bars :!:

I,ve started another discussion topic on the Holiday Truths Forum. It will be interesting to read the comments there to see if the opinion is widespread.
Like Karemolinos has just said it is not as if we are all spoilt for choice and no doubt there is better value out there also.

I can remember the days when the Kapisi had very little or no customers, that was when friends or ours Farah & Orhan owned the Pearl Bar next door ( now where the Stella Show is). The food there was excellent and they had Ahmet working the front bringing the customers in, it was always packed. When the Pearl Bar closed they could not get Ahmet to work for them quick enough, he was very popular with customers and mainly remembered for his poor singing voice but very lovable character.
We went looking for Ahmet and found him working at Kapisi as their DJ and the place was packed, this mainly due to him I think as lots of people had gone looking for him and once found had brought their custom with them. He worked there for a few years but then they ditched him.
I personally cannot stand the place, poor food, too noisy and far too overpriced.
If the Pearl Bar were still there they would have no customers.

Its definately gone down the pan , in my opinion. ,Its a prime spot on the beach with tourists young and old it used to cater for all, now it only seems interested in those who can spend every penny, either on their beach or in their bar.

The majority of the Deniz staff are friendly and polite and can't do enough for you, but as the saying goes 'one bad apple' good job the army beccons.........
