Over for another year

Postby Lynn m » 05 Oct 2007 14:30

Well back a week now caught up with most of my work, so thought I would do a little review of my holiday.

Went to Dalayan for our first week. Sorry Icmeler some place else might have just stolen my heart away from you.

Dalayan is a lovely quiet resort which still have a Turkish feel about it.
My favourite memory is sitting at a restaurant at the side of the river feeding huge turtles.
There are not any dancing waiters and bars with loud music.

Hired a boat for the day just hubby and me it only cost us 80ytl we were picked up at 10 in the morning and got back at 6.30 taken all over Turtle beach, ect. Had a barbecue lunch, this must have been the best bargain we had all holiday.

There are not many shops in Dalayan and I thought they were more expensive than Icmeler or home as I kept saying to Ged (wait until we get home to buy that).

Learned how to play back gammon and bought a board.
Unfortunately Ged did not feel the same way as I did about the place and a week there was long enough for him, he was dying to get to Icmeler.

Transferred to Icmeler for the second week staying at the Devamli. I was a bit disappointed with my stay there this time due to problems with the air conditioning .
There was a constant droning noise all night which was very loud. Then because it was above the bed it poured water all over us during the night and the thing wasn’t even on. We move to another room 4th night and eventually got a good nights sleep.

Ate in different restaurants from what we would normally go to this time. Best evening meal we had was in Mr Cook and best lunch was in Noel’s macaroni and cheese was great and I will definitely make a point of going back there next year for an evening one. We did go back to Set which is one of my all time favourite places and wouldn’t like to miss out. I just love the baked pots they serve with meals.

Oh and found VOLE which is trying to rival Efes I think its tastes better not as gassy.

I’ll stop now as my little review is not so little :D

Lynn

Nice report Lynne and glad you enjoyed Dalayan.
It sounds so peacefull, the river and Turtles.

That is what I also like during the day but have this insatiable desire to hear boom boom music at night, get on the bar and do a jig, then stagger home at night with my head tilted slightly backwards to avoid spilling any Efes that I have consumned through the evening.

Thanks again for the review.

I am pleased you enjoyed Noels. I was there lots during May and will be back next week. His evening meals are lovely, the curry is particularly good and very authentic tasting. I can recommend all his food except the fish in salt as I didnt try that. For his first season I think the place has got a good reputation.

Hi Lynn we also went to Mr Cook nearly every lunch time for our steak and onion salad roll which was excellent, had a meal there on our last night which matched the Venice which was superb, looking forward to next year.

your review of Dalyan is spot on. Not at all like icmeler, quiet and calm is how I would sum it up. Nice small place on the river with restaurants etc but people just chilling and chatting. I don't think I could do it for more than a week though.
