Here's something to think about...

Postby Papa_P » 25 Sep 2007 23:06

Say you had a couple of friends who just got married and spent thousands on a honeymoon in Bali which they then didnt enjoy...

...and you came back a few days after them after a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in Icmeler, darker and more relaxed than them, and were totally raving about the place (again)...

Which Hotel and which apartments would you advise them to stay in for their first visit to Turkey and Icmeler?

I'm ruling out the Marti because after the honeymoon, it'll be too expensive, but what would you all advise which isnt too basic and would suit a couple who enjoy some sort of mod cons?

I was thinking the Devamli Hotel? :?

The Devamli is great, but the swimming pool at the side is a bit naff. I was thinking more of the Blue Rainbow, Elif or even the Dursun apt's

No the Devamli is the best have you seen the honey moon suite it is to die for. We have stayed there for the past four years it is lovely and they make you feel welcome and special.

They would have a lovely time there, but I would get booking now as I have just booked and struggled to get in and the flights are getting expensive.

The new "wife" ended up incredibly sick due to the Asian food over there, and from what I can gather they got even more hassle in the shops than we get in Icmeler!

I just get the impression that they werent that impressed with the whole place after the amount of money they spent! To be honest I did try and warn them off spending so much, we only spent about half of what they did when we went to the Maldives and you are guaranteed a nice and quiet luxurious honeymoon there! ;) But these are a couple who almost spent £1500 on a coffee table...even though they live in an ex-council house!

So after the number of loans they took out to pay for the honeymoon and the wedding...I think a wee cheap holiday which they will enjoy this time is needed. Hence me suggesting Icmeler! :)

The pool is not naff it is adequate to have a splash around in, there is never many people in it in the day time most of the guests tend to go to the beach.

The reason I stated that it was naff was mainly due to the fact that you can't sunbathe around it etc - yes it is ok for a quick dip. Some people would rather laze about around the pool rather than go to the beach - the pool at the Devamli does not lend itself to this. Also for quite a lot of the day it doesn't get the sun even.

Can't really sunbathe in the shade can you, maybe that's why many of the guests go to the beach. :? What time of day would the sun be on the pool ?

Hi Marks

I would say late afternoon. Cause as the sun comes up in the morning the pool is shaded mostly by the sports bar, then as it moves round it's shaded by the hotel itself. Like emma-c said, the pool's always cold.

The Devamli itself though is a fantastic hotel and as one poster said, you can use any pool really. If you are a beach lover it's the perfect choice, with the added attraction of having the "Love Boat" right underneath you.
