no, tell them what you want and then negotiate on the price, that would be my advise

I agree. Don't tell them your budget. See what they come up with for the occasion. You can always barter with them.

At the end of the day, if they want to sell it to you they will negotiate a reasonable price.

You will definitely find that whatever price you pay, it will most probably be worth more back home.

Id recommend Firuze jewellers in Icmeler. They dont hassle you and the last few items we have bought have been valued at just under treble the price we paid when weve had them valued back in the uk.

I also recommend Firuze, we have been there the last two years, no hassel, have a chat and browse, enjoy a cold drink while you look. This year a friend gave us a bracelet that needed repair so we asked if they could do it, went back two days later to collect and pay and the said it was their gift, however we do buy from them so that made the difference. Will be back there next year to spend more money on the love of my life (Or is it my turn?)

Do some research before you go. Check out prices of rings that you fancy over here then when you get to Turkey, try to negotiate a price that is 30% - 50% less than the UK price.

i wouldnt say straight away how much i had as my budget.just go in and have a look and get comfortable first.especially if your spending good money.
i got my gfriend an engagement ring last year from anlar jewellers and got it valued at nearly double when i got home which is always nice to be told.
we went back this year and bought more gold jewellery from anlar and also went to firuze jewellers.really friendly and nice jewellery.made to feel really comfortable in there.
