I was there from the 21-28 august. I found that none of the traders wanted to haggle and simply wanted the price that they were offering. Unfortunately some of the prices they were asking was no different to back home. So I have to admit I did not find the "bargains" that many others seem to have found. This meant that I came back home with hardly any souvenirs. I certainly do appreciate that people have to earn a living, but in all honesty I found that many traders were asking an unrealistic price for the quality of their merchandise.
I have to admit that having been to tunisia earlier in the year, there was a big difference between there and turkey. The traders in many areas of icmeler were not willing to enter into haggling, or in many cases young people were left looking after shops and werent at all bothered to show things to us.

Please dont let this put you off as after all it is simply my opinion.

Oh and Im not sure if this change of attitude is simply due to the police crack down on hassling. It was certainly a different experience to anywhere else I have been on holiday.

I don't think you get the bargains that you used to get in Icmeler. Haggling was part of the fun but like others have said they dont seem interested now and only want the price shown.

I think Turkey is on the way up with their prices. Its still cheaper than Spain and Cyprus, but for how much longer :?:

Hi hans120.

Got back from Icemeler at the end of August and must say didn't have a problem haggling with the locals.
Best shop I found was next to Wonderboys.
We were a party of 12 and bought anything from kids football kits to jeans and polo shirts.
I think the key is not to be afraid to walk away, and I also think a lot depends on the type of day the shopkeeper has had !!!.
The guy that owned this shop would laugh and and shake his head every time he saw us coming down the road as if to say, "please, no more !!".

Hope this helps

Have a great holiday.
