Hi everyone, looking for somewhere in
Icmeler that serves just authentic Turkish cuisine. I've heard Cafe Rose is along those lines but not sure where this place is. When in Rome and all that! Staying at the Demircioglu next June (2008) 1st time there but 9th time in Icmeler. Got to be our favourite place on earth.

Karem on the Canal is a proper Turkish restaurant unfortunatley could'nt tell you if they were any good as I've never been there myself yet.
Only been going to
Icmeler for over 10 years now

keep promising myself I'm going to try it but always end up somewhere else.

Hi, I love Turkish food and have found that the "soup kitchens", (dont be put off by the nick name) are fab. It's where the locals eat and they go all out to encourage you to try their own food and love to find out what you like and cook to suit you. They are normally
very cheap too.
We always go to the one at the back of the bazar to the left, sort of under the Bellamar
hotel or there's a good one under the new Buffalo dance club in front of the bazar and to the left on the corner.
Dont be put off if they aren't busy early evening, the locals eat a lot later than us. Go at 2am and you'll struggle to find a table!
ps their soups are superb and an excellent way to finish the night off after a few beers!
Have fun!

Cafe Rose is in the Old Village, it looks quite small from the outside but is well shaded inside by all the trees that surround it. We went to look for it in July as my Wifes maiden name is Rose, and she just had to go and see it ! We didn't eat there though. We're going back in October and will deffo give it a go. The menu looked very authentic and the decor mostly natural ie, trees, flowers etc. I will pm you with exact directions if you wish as I don't want to send you all round the Old Village. My wife is good at directions !!!!

Thanks for your replies everyone. Can't wait to try the places you all recommend. Will definitely eat at Vinces as we have read fab things about the food and staff. Soup kitchens sound great, as does Kerem.
marks - Would appreciate some directions to Cafe Rose thank you. I am not too familar with the old village but know the other parts of
Icmeler very well. This place sounds like exactly what we are looking for.

paul&vernie We,ve eaten at Cafe Rose a few year,s ago with some friend,s and the food was marvellous.I think it worked out about £28 for four of us with a couple of beer,s each. Fantastic value!Rose,s two son,s waited on the table,s(they where about 5&6 year,s old)It was a lovely place.Unfortunately we haven,t been back as we haven,t stayed in the old village in a while. But we,re going back this saturday 8th september so hopefully we,ll have a pop in.

Is this the resaturant beside Salim's barber shop (best barber in Icmemler), just beyond the mosque? We passed it every night and were put off by the canopy of trees in case of midges.
With all the testaments for it, we'll probably try it next week as it's just around the corner from one of our favourites.

paul&vernie.Cafe Rose is in the old village it,s off the cross road,s near ozzy,s restaurant. A little further up the road and off up a side street behind some apartments. A bit of a trek but well worth it. It,s actually Rose,s house with a few table,s and chair,s outside.

If you have a chat with Rose at the cafe rose day before she will cook you something out of this world. We explain to Rose our dislikes and our favorite food. The Turkish food we had for the 2 of us was fit for a king. However did explain to Rose only for 2 people however could of filled 4 people.
Have a great time

Highly recommend the Karem on the canal. Just returned this August and can honestly say one of the best meals all holiday, although did not have a bad meal anywhere in Icmeler. Not the cheapest of places but well worth a visit. The cheesecake is a must, not like any other I have tried , enjoy .

Hi there!
When we were there 2 weeks ago we went to the OLIVE TREE restaurant near the atm machine area. Not quite as traditional as some of the eateries mentioned above but does do traditional turkish food.
We ate there the last 2 nights of our hols and I will say it was the best food we had on holiday! The turkish section of food is absolutely wonderful! Beautifully presented and great staff too!!!!!!
The head waiter is called King solomon!
The first night we ate like a king and queen! Three courses each, extras and loadsa drinks came to 100 ytl, approx £40. Absolute bargain!!!!!
The second night, the last day of hols, when we turned up it was very busy but we were treated like old friends!
All of the food was wonderful and they will happily cater to any need you have. I must say though, if anyone out there is a chocaholic (just like me) the chocolate souffle is to die for.
Simply the most exquisite food, both evenings, I have had in many years!
I think you get the picture, will stop raving now!!
