Old Village

Thinking of booking apts at the back of the old village, I'm just wondering where you get the dolmus to get back there at night or is a taxi required?

We used to catch the dolmus opposite Azra jewellers (hope I spelt that right) Thats the one on the corner with the car outside. Across the road is a little shop and we just used to wait there each time a few minutes and a dolmus would come along, great! Mind you, taxis would come over and would stop and say "old village 10 lira" we would say "5 lira" and they would agree!!

hi molly,
My son stayed at Greenworld he used to walk there and back. some nights he didn't get into the centre because there were just as good places in old village - on the dolmus road. He told me that because those apartments were right at the back of the old village - dolmus drivers would go out of their way and drop him at the door - so it's useful if you're the last drop!

I love walking at night and used to do the walk to Daystar apartments every night.
Which apartments are you staying at?

Hi June, We are staying at Julian Forrest don't know if it's near Greenworld. I saw on another site it's about 25 minute walk to centre, so at the end of the night we'll definitely not be walking back. :) As you say there's bars and restaurants in the old village too, might try there for a change.

Julian Forest is next to Greenworld. It's lovely up there, quiet and tranquil. You do have a good walk into the centre and I know what you mean about on the way back. My son and his girlfriend are in their early 20's, I'm 53 - no way I could have walked that far at night.

There are bars that give you a lift back to your hotel. I don't know of any that just do that - maybe others on the site can help you there. Several times when I've said I've got to leave because I've got to walk, I've been offered a lift so maybe it's just to thank you for your custom and in the hope you'll return.

You might find it useful to make a deal with 1 taxi driver - tell him you'll use him each night - you might get a deal and have a known face. That's worked for some people.

Have a great time.
